Sleepless in Victoria *PICS & 56k WARNING*

Once upon a time there was this guy who drank a little bit too much Dr. Pepper (4 750ml bottles) at work. He arrived home at 11:00PM, couldn't fall asleep, and decided to detail his car at 12:00 in the morning. So, he brought out his cotton towels, Diamond Kote Paint Cleaner, Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze, S100, and made his way to an underground parking lot.

After 3 hours, buddy boy detailer finished and as a treat he rewarded himself with a nice, cool, refreshing Froster from Mac's. Mmmmm, slushy. Now, time for pics! Right? No! Being the smart guy buddy boy detailer is, he forgot to charge the batteries for his digital camera so he had to wait until the next day to take some pictures.

Those 3 hours totally paid off. Here's the entire car:

Very nice work, very impressive shine.

Was there any special reason you used Diamond Kote? How does that compare to GEPC and other paint cleaners? Where can you buy it?

very nice! I didn't realize how different the packaging was (labeling) on canadian stuff until I saw your bottle of #7... we don't have half the warnings/languages on ours!

Lookin good P. :xyxthumbs

Hey guys, he probably won't reply to this thread for a while, he has to catch up on his sleep! :D

Where in Victoria did you take those pictures? I lived there for four years close to Oak Bay, but I do not recognize that area. :nixweiss

Car looks fanastic!

And yes, we do have a lot of writing on the bottles!! That is part of the reason why some products are not available here; their labels do not meet our language requirements!!! :angry

When I purchased the car, they included a "Diamond Kote Package" free of charge. It included interior upholstery treatment, rust protection, and "paint protection" (probably just an application of Diamond Kote Paint Restorer).

When I used it the first couple of times, I wasn't nearly as educated about auto detailing as I am now. I was a one-step kind of guy back then. I remember it adding gloss and really smoothing out the paint, but it didn't last too long. So, after a lot of reading, here's my take on Diamond Kote Paint Restorer:

- very easy to apply and remove

- it seems to fill-in swirls rather than remove them; it doesn't feel very abrasive

- it adds a DEEP gloss to the paint

- paint feels really smooth after

Basically, I just wanted to use up the rest of the bottle so I can make way for DACP. I haven't tried GEPC but it seems as though it's quite popular with my fellow Autopian's.

As far as trying to get a hold of some of this stuff, I looked at their website (http://www.diamondkote.com ), but it seems as though you can't order it online. Maybe their 1-800 number may help? If I decide to continue using this product, I will probably go to my car dealership and see what they can do for me (and I'll let you know).

Yeah, when I realized I was looking at an American bottle, I thought it was a new formula. I thought they would be the same (but with Spanish as the second language as opposed to French). Oh well... just as long as it does its job! :D

Noize, great job!

OEM skirts and lips along with cleared headlights, right?

:up Correct! :D

I'm looking to get a Coupe or RS front lip. I like the look of those lips. Mine is really TOO simple.

Well, the product shot was at my house. The shot of the entire car was taken at the top of Mount Douglas Park (and so was one of the reflection shots). The rest of them were taken down Gorge Waterway.

Where do you live now? I'm love Victoria because I feel that it's the perfect place to raise my children (currently just 'child'). After living here since I was 3 (I'm now 22), I never realized how beautiful Victoria really is. No wonder we have a lot of seniors here! :D
