Slang Skills!

Protect and Shine
The Augusta Chronicle a local newspaper done an article on slang pertaining to cars. So get out your pen and paper and get ready to take down some notes, so when a customer tells you he wants his shoes shiny you'll know what he's talking about. LOL!

Whip: A car
Dubs: 20-inch wheels
Dub deuces or deuce-deuce: 22-inch rims
Sitting on LeBrons: A car with 23 -inch rims, the same as NBA star LeBron James' basketball number
Shoes: Rims
Skate: To drive or ride
Riding Big: Driving a car with large rims and standout paint job, sound sysytem and interior or any combination of the four.
Donk: 1971-75 Chevy Caprice or Impala
Box Chevy: 1978-89 Chevy caprice
Bubble Chevy: 1991-96 Chevy Capric

And here is a qoute from one of the car owner's they spoke to.
"In this culture, if you're shoes ain't kickin' or what you're sittin' on ain't shiny and big-and getting bigger and bigger-then you ain't riding right."

I wish gas was cheaper for my 540 whip:lmfao

I didn't know none of them! I wouldn't have ever got the whip=a car and the LaBron one, wow where did that one come from. I know he is a young basketball player, but that good to have slang terms named after him.

This guy must have some really proud parents because this kind of "knowledge" could never be learned in school.

I knew all of them, but only because I'm part of that generation. And speaking of the reference towards LeBron James and vehicles, I believe I have a few pics to describe exactly what they're talking about. I saw this car on the way to a car show one day and could not stop laughing. They thought I liked the car because I was taking pictures. I let them know otherwise after I was done lauging at them.

Those pics are truly frightening!

Just my 2 cents, but maybe they should have spent a little of that 23 incher money on a door that actually closes. :lmfao

wow i feel old at 31. i didn't know any of those terms. but i do know "hog" is another terms for a harley:rofl

Guess I Be Rollin on Dem, Dub deuces.

Yeah i know all the slang too, ilike audiboy said, i'm also in that generation.

Some of them cars can look good. But most of them look like poo.

My second car was actually a box chevy that i had done alot of work too. Had it rollin on dubs and such.

The slang has got ridiculous though.

Wow, talk about out of touch, I didn't know any of them.
With the exception of the box chevy... Only problem is, to me it's not a 1978-89 Chevy caprice. it a 62-67 Nova:(

Oh well

Maaaaan, that Monte has more ground clearance than my 4x4 truck!!

The stupid thing is, I have seen a bunch of old Chevelles and Cutlass 442s in this area that have gotten destroyed like that; it just makes me sick to see such nice classic musclecars put to such extreme waste.

And that Monte that was pictured..... WTF were they thinking putting lebron decals on the back quarters?? I think I want to go throw up now....

Not only does it have the decals of LeBron, it has his number 23, which, like mentioned earlier, also indicate the wheel size. And for those of you who don't watch sports that often, the paint scheme happens to be the Cleveland Cavaliers colors. They went all out on all of that stuff and can't even fix the passenger door so it will close properly.

Yeah, I knew what the number was about, but I figured that was just their cheap way of putting the wheel size down like the DUB emblems you see on better-built customs.

I recognize that model...it was the Monte Carlo with the optional can't shut all the way passenger door.
