I'm selling my BMW 528i. If anyone is interested, or knows of anyone who might be interested, please get in touch with me.

- Cruise Control
- Auto dual-zone climate control w/auto sensing microfilters
15" alloy wheels with new Michelin XGT H4 tires (~8,000 miles)
Current on all service
No problems that I'm aware of: Just got my oil analysis back - engine is in top form.

Recent major service performed including:
- Complete tune-up
- All filters (fuel, air, cabin) replaced
- Belts & hoses replaced
- Thermostat replaced (precautionary)
- Waterpump replaced (precautionary)
- Thermostat housing replaced (precautionary)
- All fluids flushed and replaced (Brake, Coolant, Differential, Trans.)
- All brakes replaced with Brembo rotors (front & rear) & Pagid pads (front & rear)

Oil changed every 3,000 miles with Mobil1 and BMW filters, tires roated every 3,000 miles as well. I have all service receipts.

For pictures, click <a href = "http://www.autopia-carport.com/forum/showthread.php3?threadid=8477">here.

Rear bumper has a few scrapes in it, very low on the bumper from people backing into me. No paintwork done that I know of (bought it with 20K on it), and title is clean from CarFax.

Car drives great - regularly gets over 30mpg on 89 octane fuel. Miles are highway mostly (from Wisconsin to Arkansas and back). I'd sell this car to my mother without any reservation, but she doesn't know how to drive a stick-shift. Very reliable and has been well maintained.

Thanks in advance!

I will also include my Valentine One radar detector, 6 new MANN oil filters, Peake Research service tool ($150 retail), BMW service CD's ($600 retail) & will include all service records.

As a bonus to my Autopia friends, I will knock $500 off the price - I am asking $24,500 everywhere else, but for Autopian's only, it's $24K. Or, if you know of someone who's looking for a car, and you sell mine, you can keep anything over $24K. Thanks again.

Steve,
Do you live in WI? which city?

I used to live in Madison, but now I live in Northwest Arkansas. For a period of about a year, I was doing a lot of back-and-forth driving...

So you've decided to not modify it... just sell it? Good luck, if I was in WI and didn't have a 528i already, I would buy it immediately!

Oh, and the manual transmission and Brembo brakes are pretty appealing to me... :xyxthumbs

Have you tried putting it up on eBaymotors.com or Yahoo! classifieds?

~bw

I've got it listed with:

Autotrader.com

Bimmer.org/Roadfly

Yahoo

and the local paper...hoping to sell it before my new car gets here!

Yeah, the Brembo rotors with Pagid pads work really, really, really well. They stop much better than the stock rotor/pad combo did. I wonder if it isn't partially related to the fluid change, though.

I've had a few people e-mail me about the car from Roadfly, and no "hits" from autotrader or yahoo...we'll see!

Ok, I need your help!

Price is now $23,000. I've got the car listed at:

Autotrader.com

Bimmerfest.com

Cars.com

EbayMotors (7 bids, 4 days remaining, $23K reserve)

Local Newspapers (3)

Roadfly.com

Yahoo!Motors

I owe more than $23K on it, so I can't go any lower than that. My 337 is on the way, should be here around the 22nd. I don't have room in my garage for all of the cars, so puhleease, help a geek out, here! Thanks in advance...

I did some research at those websites and could not find your car. Until I went to Bimmerfest.com. Saw your post and noticed it said your car was a 1997 model. But your post here says 1998, so that's what I searched.

Redid the search at Autotrader.com for 1997 5-series and found it.

Are all the other listing for a 1997 car?

Just trying to make sure others can find it online.

FYI - Could not find it at all on Yahoo or e-bay motors.

That would explain the problem with your search...I re-read my post, and indeed, my car is a 1997. Dunno what to say except that I'd like to hire someone as a proof reader- Bret, are you available??? Maybe you could teach me some 10-key too?? :)

Thanks & sorry for any confusion. Now I'm off to check the other sites and make sure everything is kosher.

[edit]

ok, wth??? Yahoo, I pay $25 to list my car, and it only shows up when I search for cars in my zip code...nice...Luckily, I found the other ads except for the cars.com one, so I'm not sure what's going on...rrrrr

23,000 and you even get a free 528i. :D

GeekySteve -

I'm going to assume that you still have the Bimmer unsold...

Can you PM me (or e-mail me at jim@jimhummel.com) regarding the 528. I tried, but I think your PM box is full.

Also, where is the car located? I tried to take a look at the pictures, but I think the thread that the link was pointing to got axed. Can you post a couple?

Thanks :wavey

Thanks BW...I was able to contact Steve. I had seen this thread about his departure and noted that he attempted to log back in to post an e-mail address for everyone, but there was something wrong with his ID and he couldn't log in.

I'll post the e-mail for everyone (he said that it was OK to do so) once I find it...

My customer has a 2010 SL65 AMG Black Series coupe. Now that he has a storage facility for his cars, I can finally start working on polishing the car.

The car is in extremely rough shape, some of the worst swirls and halograms I've seen.

Anyways, I knew the clear coat was soft, but after doing some test sections, I am in shock at how soft the paint really is. I was using brand new microfibers (Autosmart yellow MFs from Amazon) and they were still marring the paint. I then switched over to the Eurow Shag towels and got a little better results. Even taping off the hood emblem induced scratches, seriously!

I'm afraid that I am going to be inducing more scratches once I start moving around the car and correcting the defects. I want to get the paint as close to perfection as possible, since the only protection I can see using on this vehicle is Opti-Coat or Aquartz.

Any advice as I tackle this thing? I know the process I'm going to use for removing the defects, but any advice for removing polish without inducing more scratches would be appreciated. I'm going to be ordering some coating products, so if I need to try a different towel, I can order something that yall recommend.

Thank you in advance for your help, this is a very very nice car and I really want to make it right again.

For removing polish from soft paint easily, I found that a bucket of warm water with 2oz of no rinse wash with the softest microfiber towel I have, works great to remove polish.

Usually I've had luck using Meguiars 34 to remove polish residue, and using as little pressure as possible with a plush MF. However on my wife's horribly repainted NHBP Honda, the softest paint I've ever seen, this usually leads to a smeary mess and marring. But her car is an absolute nightmare, so take that FWIW.
