SIP as LSP?

Did a white Mitsubishi Evo yesterday. I used SIP on the whole car, and it took care of most fine scratches and finished nicely. I then stepped up to the P106 with Meg's yellow pad to get more shine. I started on the door, and For some reason I got hazing. I was working slowly allowing the polish to break down, and even tried different speeds on the PC, and different pads. Could not get rid of the hazing it was creating. I ended up just using the SIP and then applying a wax. The SIP finished better and was easier to work with than the 106. The temperature was 70's with moderate humidity. The end result was great and the car looked awesome and wet looking.

Does anyone use SIP as a one step polish/LSP, and proceed directly to sealant or wax? I had great results.

What is strange is that I did my Evo a few weeks ago and polished only with 106. I did not get any hazing at all. It was rather easy to work with.

What am I doing wrong here? :nixweiss

Were the pads clean? What temperatures were you working in?

Yes, even tried a brand new Meg's yellow pad out of the package. In my garage, temp was 70's with little to moderate humidity.

I just spritz the pad once initially with QD spray. I usually replenish it about 1/4 way around the vehicle. Just my process anyway and others may have different methods.

I've never experienced what you did with the Menzerna 2 step SIP and 106. Did you fully break down the SIP?

I have heard of IP finishing LSP ready but i hadnt heard SIP would....i am curious about the hazing...you say that 106 did it? would have had to have been the pad..im not familiar with meg's pads but hopefully it was no more than a polishing pad...but what counts is that you got the job done....
