Single Step Polishing?

Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone knows of a polish that cuts light-moderate sratches...but finishes right down to LSP?? Ive searched but havent came up with much...Optimum Polish is what I'm leaning towards...I'm trying to cut down on some time...

Heres a quick overview of why I asked: I get alot of my details from private country clubs. Many members come to play a round of golf, and maybe grab a bite to eat. That gives me a solid 4 hours! If i can detail a car with a light polish, I would be a VERY happy camper, and generate alot more business. Time is such a killer!

Any insight would be very helpful! Thanks!

i too am looking for something like this and i too was leaning towards optimum polish lolz :)

i have had good experiences with sonus sfx1. good cut and doesnt leave any micromarring or hazing, at least i cant tell. so i usually go sfx1, KAIO, then p21s or nxt 2.0 or souvern.

Well if you're using rotary. I can usually get SIP to finish down LSP ready with nothing afterwards... Better hope your clients don't have Audis or Ceramic Clear coats.

In a private country club??? I wouldn't expect any of those....or BMWs or Mercedes. :rofl

I'm just playing with ya.

I'm no master at it and still am learning, but I agree with Stiffdogg. I've seen a lot of experienced people do really well with SIP or 106 as a single stage polish. Practice with it will really bulid your ability to keep it clean.

yeah, i've heard SIP and 106 are good but most people use SIP followed by 106. I am just wondering if SIP will work well with an orange pad and a UDM.

rotary is a bit out of my league right now.

Last year we had a guy that set up a big shade tent in the corner of the parking lot at a golf course I play at. He usually had two or three cars lined up on weekends and his stuff was all wash and wax. He hung around until the afternoon and then he was gone.....

Looking back, I bet he made more with the quick stuff than with guys who would be open to a polish package at a location like a golf course......

Stiffdog: All of the cars are pretty much brand new!! Audis, BMWs, Merc, Porsche...ect! I have a rotary, but I only use it when I need it, or when im in a crunch.

Dave1: I agree, most people like a wash and quick wax, and thats all that most of the cars really need...but there are those people that want their car to look better than everyone esles!! Remember, private country clubs means everyone wants to be the best! Thats for sure!

Question: Does Optimum have more cut that 106ff??

I'd go with SIP... It really does finish down nice and clean.

I do use 106FF or PO85RD after it a lot to just get that little bit extra.

Got it...I think I need to start doing some testing...which is hard to do cause its going to be 12 degrees as the high on Sunday!! How do these people sleep at night!! The low is 4Degrees! And I'm in Cleveland, OH which doesnt help much!

I offer three packages for the country club I have a contract with; hand wash, wash and vacuum, and mini-detail. The mini-detail is the only one that includes polishing. I use Optimum Poli-Seal via Cyclo. I am in the same situation where I simply do not have enough time to spend more than say four hours on a car.

I was hoping I wasn't the only one asking a question like this...how does the Poli-Seal work for you?? I have to say 4 hours usually isn't enough time, and I can't cut corners, but "most" of the time the cars arent soo bad...Brwill2005...your mobile right??

Twista616,

I highly suggest checking out Poli-Seal, which corrects, cleans, and protects. Once you use it, you'll love it. A little goes a long way. Once you apply to the paint, it virtually disappears which means very little buffing. You could even buff it off with Optimum Car Wax for added protection. If you need more cut from it, you can just add some Optimum Polish into the mix. For what you'll be doing, I think Poli-Seal is the best option.

Check out all of Scottwax's posts on Poli-Seal (or PS). I believe he said he gets about 4 months of protection from PS.

How does the scheduling for that work? Do you require a minimum amount of work? Does the country club ask you to be there on certain days? If so, is it just first come first serve? Or are the golfers supposed to contact you themselves.

Another vote for Poli-Seal! Just put your PC on 5 or 6 and go to town. You just need a tiny bit to do the whole car and it does a good job of removing smaller scratches and leaving a smooth finish in one step! I use it on 1 step polishes as you can go to more aggressive compounds in your polishing step(I use rotary, but it would be the same with the PC), then use the Poli-Seal to remove any haze and leave some protection. I then remove any residue with a MF with OCW on it to add more protection. So in two steps you remove a lot of scratches and leave a great gloss!

Twista I thank you would like the 1Z einszett product PAINT POLISH"LACK POLITUR" its in the green can. Give it a try.. It LOOKS great on dark colors.

I am mobile, however, I do not carry my own water and power. The club lets me use their utilities. Poli-Seal works great. In fact I use it all the time on vehicles with paint that is in good condition. The scheduling at the country club works as follows: During golf season I have Thursday and Friday blocked out for them. If I do not hear from the club 24 hours before Thursday or Friday, I open those days back up for regular customers. The club members contact the club directly to schedule details. The club then calls me with the information, and I confirm with the member. The contract just started last August, and I was a bit disappointed with the response. The club manager and I are currently trying to figure out some ways to advertise for the coming season. I know there is plenty of nice cars that need detaling; Ferraris, Maseratis, Porsches etc. fill the parking lot.

It's a great product, but I find it necessary to follow up with MPWax on Black or dark colors.

For cars in very good condition, I'd go with 1ZMPWax by machine - one simple step and it leaves behind a nice carnauba finish, which lasts much longer than PP.

If you want more cut but still get excellent gloss, I like Menz 106FF or 1Z High Gloss Polish, but you'll have to follow with an LSP. Make sure you keep the RPMs at about 1200 for both polishes, and use a light polishing pad.
