Single Stage Paints All Equal?

Guys, are all single stage paints by definition base coats mixed in with clear? Or are there some SS paints that have no CC at all? Im wondering specifically about Honda's Tafetta white.
 
Dunno about the Honda stuff, but mixing clear and pigmented paint is kinda new. Conventional single stage is just paint with colored (pigmented) paint, either lacquer or enamel (or epoxy) but it's not a mixture like what you mentioned. The pigmented stuff that's the "basecoat" in b/c paint is very different from conventional single stage, which is made to stand on its own with no clear over top of it.

Single stage paint when mixed is mainly three parts. Base (color), Reducer, and Hardner. The hardner is geared at your question. This hardner acts as a clear and has a clear additive and (the clear part) is used at times to trim out interior doors, under hood panels, and door jams. So yes it has a clear mixed in, but it does not serve or do much protection for the pigment (base) (color). With all vehicles there is a paint code and when the mix is done, there is a line where it says to add 450B or something like that which is the hardner/clear additive. So yes, your type of paint if SS has some type of clear additive, but regardless will not serve much protection against fading.
