simple green in foam gun?

was just wondering if the foam gun would work with simple green instead of car soap? i work for a porta potty company and was thinking instead of using a spray bottle with simple green in it and letting it run down the walls if spraying it in foam form so it can stay on walls and soak better

i cant imagine simple green being able to create enough suds to cling to anything. It may work just as a regular sprayer being used to have a diluted version of simple green sprayed on surfaces. I dont own a foam gun so i dont know what the real results would be. Another question I would have is, would simple green be safe for the gun as well?

i knew i forgot something. actually 3 things.

is it safe to use a cleaner like simple green in the foam gun

what is the max psi the gun can handle

and will the gun survive heated water

Check the ph level at dillution. If it is over 8.0 don,t use it. Any product will foam coming out of a foamer. I have sold foamers for 15 years & it,s only in the last 5 years that the car wash guys have discovered em for washing vehicles. You can use water as hot as your taps can produce. Simple green is a high ph all purpose cleaner & not paint friendly.

the water will come from a pressure washer not from tap. the pressure washer heats the water

Yes you can use it with no problem. I shoot APC and Degreasers through mine all the time. just adjust the dilution knob to make it thicker.

As a matter of fact, the first foam gun I ever used had the Simple Green logo on it. They used to sell the Gilmour Foamaster labeled as Simple Green to quick lubes and restaurants to clean floors.

if you are using it on surfaces that aren't important (ie. paint, etc) then there shouldn't be a problem. after you are done, just make sure to fill it with water and spray out/clean anything that might potentially clog it up (i always do this after every use).

When I read "pressure washer" I think of a foam lance/foam cannon type of foamer, something *made* for use on a pressure washer.

Is the Gilmour foam gun pressure washer-friendly? I only think of it as being for "regular" hose-end/household pressure use  Mine work well with boosted household pressure, but that's nothing like what a pressure washer is capable of....maybe you could turn it down to where it won't be a problem though. But do pressure washers use the *volume* of water that a Gilmour foam gun needs to work properly?

Gee, for a guy who uses his foamguns so much I sure am  huh?!?

see i am not sure about that myself which is why i posted this to let the people familiar with the foam guns tell me. lol

I'm not sure if I caused the confusion about the foam "gun" vs. the foam "canon", but I can help with both. Out of the gun(Gilmour...hose pressure) you will get foam about like you see in a car wash bucket. It will cling, but not long and you can control the strength by using the instructions provided with the gun. Out of the canon(camspray or similar...attached to pressure washer) You can make the solution cling quite well by setting the dispenser control to high. The only time with either method of application would become unsafe is if used on inappropriate material, allowed to dwell too long, or allowed to dry on the surface. I never rinse my Camspray or Gilmour out after use and have not had any trouble in the 3-4 years I have had them.
