Simple Green Help

If I use simple green on areas around my engine and plastic under the hood do I have to clean it of or can I just leave it? Because I don’t want to wash my engine and area around it.

I don't know where you have heard that it stains but that is not the case with me. I've used it full strength, 4:1 and 10:1 under the engine, on tires, wheels, wheel wells and i've never had a problem with it. You should not let it dry though, especially on full strength, it will leave ugly white residue (BUT IT'S NOT STAINED). Just let it sit, agitate with a brush (I use an old toothbrush) and rinse away. Don't forget to follow it up with some dressing. 303 is my choice.

so i can use it on the tires to take off built up break dust? and if so what strength?

Some people have had browning issues after using Simple Green on their tires. I haven't tried it myself, and I'm disinclined to do so. However, I suppose it will do a pretty good job of cleaning the tires :) Maybe you can use some Eagle One Tire cleaner instead.

I have tried SG on my rims, I think I had it mixed 4:1 but it didn't work very well. I had to use a brush to get a lot of the brake dust off and any of the dust on the inside of the rim was unaffected. I have used it on my engine though and it worked pretty well, but then again Ive never tried any other engine cleaners to compare it to.

I would strongly recommend Turtle Wax wheel cleaner or the EO wheel cleaner over Simple Green.

I use simple green on my tires and wheels and it works well. I use it full strength most of the time and I use it on my engine bay also and it works great. I make sure to rinse it off and not let it dry

Simple Green works great for me.

I dilute it 4:1 for general cleaning use. It takes off break dust and underhood dust/general dirt wonderfully.

For very caked on brake dust that is hard and set, use it straight and start scrubbing. It will not harm the clearcoat on the wheels. I do not suggest using it straight on polished aluminum wheels.

I have had no problems with it at all, however I always wipe or rinse it off. Its great underhood and leaves all the plastics with a nice clean finish when rinsed.

I have used it on my tires full strength and can report no issues with it. I would say it is required to rinse away the SG with water. I have no issues with using the hose attachment mist setting under the hood of my own cars.

If using full strength, make sure to rinse well. From what I understand, it is very corrosive to bare metal if left on for extended periods, especially on aluminum.
