silver passat process

The car is a 2004 reflex silver passat. The paint is in good condition with some very minor scratching/swirling. This is the process I was thinking of with the products I have:

Wash

Clay

Polish with einszett paint polish

klasse aio

sg

How does that sound? I'm relatively new at this, and any comments/criticism would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

golftor- The only issues I see are related to the waxes/fillers/etc. that the PP leaves behind vs. the cleaning power of the AIO.

The above-mentioned stuff in the PP will do a bit of concealing, especially if your car is one of the VWs with hard paint. When you apply the AIO a lot of marring may very well "come back" as the waxes/etc. from the PP get cleaned off by the AIO.

Maybe this'll be an issue for you and maybe it won't. You can try using rubbing alcohol after you polish to remove the waxes and let you see what you really have (condition-wise) before you do the AIO, that oughta prevent any big surprises.

FWIW, I use waxes over top of 1z polishes and use other, wax/filler-free polishes when I'm gonna use the Klasse twins. I bet some durable carnauba like Collinite would work great over the PP, I do that combo pretty often. Yeah, it does some filling/hiding but the vehicles still look very good for a long time. Some VW/Audi paints are mighty hard to correct with PP, at least without a rotary, so a bit of concealing can be OK.

Thanks accumulator. I was a little unsure about the aio over the 1z. What's a good OTC wax to use over the paint polish?

I'm not a great authority on OTC products :o But the autoparts stores in my area have Collinite 845 IW. There were some posts a while ago about good OTC waxes but I can't recall the brands...it might've been something suprising like Ralley...IIRC it was Mosca who posted about it, maybe do a search on his username.

There's always the old faves Meg's #26 or Gold Class and some people like Turtle Wax Platinum. Mother's California Gold comes to mind...but I have no experience with those other than the #26 which wouldn't be *my* choice on silver.

the only OTC product that goes my Arctic Silver paint is Aqua Wax.

Maybe give one of their past waxes a shot if you can get it OTC.

I would consider a different sealant like Poorboys EXP or Acrylic Jett Trigger. Much much easier to use and layer.
