Sick child

Hi all,

My son Joshua is a critical care nurse and traveller. He recently finished an assignment in Plymouth, MA and some where along the way became infected with MRSA. He is presently in Boston Medical intensive care with MRSA pneumonia and a grave prognosis. He has been there a week and has showed improvement, so we remain optimistic. His disease is rare, dangerous, and average hospital stay is 22 days.

I am asking those that read this for prayers, mantras, positive thoughts for my son. Any help will be deeply appreciated.

Thanks,

Sludge

Presently in Mass.

Sorry to hear that, man. Kudos to people who work in the healthcare industry and take care of us when we're sick. It's the nurses who really seem to care about the patients...a lot more than most of the doctors.

Thanks all,

David it is very painful. Watching my son turn red and draw his knees up to his chest while being suctioned has not been pleasant. He has tried to remain positive during this entire episode, but you can imagine how you would feel after a week of this torture. Fortunately he is in Boston Medical with their superb staff and great ICU nurses.

Ugh - my heart goes out to you Sludge, my Grandpa was just in the hospital with severe MRSA. Hopefully your son will make a quick recovery, it sure can be tough to see a loved one like that.

Prayers being sent your way man... kinda in the same boat right now... My 9 year old daughter has pneumonia also. Not as bad as your son's case but still bad.

Take Care Man.

John Thank you. We need prayers bad. The last 8 weeks have been the most trying in my life, way to many things to list here.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I spent last night in intensive care with Joshua while his wife prepared for her thyroid cancer surgery today. He had a pretty good night and his doctor is going to try to wean him off the ventilator. Using head motions Joshua said he felt better and was not in pain. I will spend tonight and Friday night with him.

Again thanks and my prayers go out to any of you with sick loved ones. We remain optimistic that he will recover fully. Your responses were just what I needed. :thx
