Showroom Shined- 100,000 mile Toyota Tundra Detail

Whew, I cant believe it's been almost (August) 6 years since I have had my truck. I got the truck when I was 16, and have tried my best over the past 6 years to keep it looking "Showroom" new. Of course, 100,000 miles and 6 years of driving to high-school, college, beach, mountains, etc takes a toll on anything and my truck is proof that with a little attention now and then, you can fight the signs of aging.

It had been over a year since my last detail on the truck. Sure I have put on the odd coat of wax/sealant, and clayed once and hit it with 151 once or twice, but the paint was in pretty bad shape considering who the truck is owned by. Swirls, water spotting, contamination, hazing, scratches, it was all there. The undercarriage had not been touched in over a year and a half, the carpet was getting filthy and the wheels were in sad sad shape. Who knew I would let the truck get this bad, but I guess that is what NCSU does to a person, screws up everything. This weekend was time to change all that.

My truck has had many looks over the years, with this look being purely out of necessity. I was tired of small tires, or overly huge tires, both rode bad and were expensive. The bed rails and step bars were also removed due to excessive wear, and now the truck is much easier to clean, plus the UWS Toolbox helps me keep some of my detailing materials dry.

All in All, about 20 hours was spent on the truck, and while not perfect, I can safely guess there is no other Tundra that is still this shiny after 100k.

Thanks for looking

I like this body style of Tundra. I think Toyota went overboard with the current Tundra bodystyle. This is probably the cleanest example of this style of truck.

Wow that looks great. Nice job keeping the truck looking new! No one would ever guess theres 100,000 miles on it.

my goodness!!

those two under hood pictures look better than when it would have rolled out of the showroom

are you the only owner?

Great job on the truck!!! looks great and I would have thought it was a garage Queen!!!

Love your attention to the underbody and undercarriage, one of the few detailers on here who have gotten and shown pictures of it!!!

Great work on the engine bay also!!!

Japanese cars are great, they seem to never break down, even when you toss some of the harshest things at them!!!!

^ +1. the underbody is outstanding, and the wheels looks incredible as well. great looking truck for 100k let alone 10k!

Damn, dude. FANTASTIC is the only word that comes to mind.

Your undercarriage looks like mine does.......................in my dreams. I plan on getting mine professionally cleaned at some point.

Truck looks great! Undercarriage is very impressive.

Have you ever though about putting a little bit bigger tire on it?

Very nice, I love those trucks. What I think is cool is that the underbody of your truck is cleaner than most bodies on cars.

Very nice Tundra. I have a white 2006 2WD Tundra V-6 that is my work truck. They gave it to me about two months ago and I really like that truck, but its not Nearly as nice as yours and mine only has 38,000 miles on it. I'm amazed to see no rust at all on the frame, Axel, suspension, ect. My truck isn't even four years old yet and its showing rust on the frame, axel, and especially the leaf springs. But the truck went through three Minnesota winters and that salt will kill metal.

Very nice wheel wells and under body. It's nice to see I'm not the only one that cleans down there. Keep it clean for another 6 years and 100,000 miles.

Edit:

Here are pictures of my 2006 Toyota Tundra. Keep in mind this truck went through three Minnesota winters and I got it about two months ago. If I would have got this truck brand new, I'm sure it would look better. I will post these pictures to show that if you don't keep the under body clean, it will rust. You already showed how nice the under body can stay. Please don't let this happen to your truck.

For all you haters out there, Fords, Chevy's and Dodges rust up here too. In fact I went to the Chevy dealership for the hell of it and looked at the brand new Silverados, and to my surprise the steering knuckles were completely rusty. GM didn't even bother to paint or powder coat the knuckles. Just goes to show the length of the cost cutting (not to mention the plastic skid plate and plastic hubcaps with fake plastic lug nuts).

wow -- that looks amazing.

I like the "little" piece of equipment that is strapped on the inside next to your passenger seat...hopefully no one ever runs you off the road!
