Should MF Towels be washed before first use?

Title says it all... just picked up some MF towels today and was wondering if I can go ahead and use them straight outta the package, or is it best to wash and dry them first?

I recommend it. It will get rid of any lose lint, or anything that may have gotten on/in the towel in manufacturing, packaging or shipping.
 
Oh yes. Sometimes even after the first wash, there still could be a tiny bit of lint. That's my situation right now. With similar MFs I've had before another wash did clear it up.
 
I like to wash mine in hot water with just a little liquid
detergent. Then for the rinse, add some white vinegar
to help release any soap residues. This makes the
towels softer as well as removing lint.

Add the vinegar in the rinse cylcle... and use a warm water rinse if possible. I use about a teaspoonful for each towel.
 
Why is warm water rinse better than cold?

No need to add vinegar to the wash and rinse cycle is there?

Vinegar is added to the RINSE cycle only to remove any soap/detergent residue.

And yes, I always wash & dry my new m/f's before use & store them covered so they don't "accumulate" any dust in the garage.

Warm water and the vinegar helps get out all the soap. Getting all the soap out is important, as it will reduce the chance of streaking.

Don't use fabric softener. It will clog up the fibers in the towel and reduce it's ability to absorb... another "streak" situation.

Absolutley not!!!! :wait :wait That is one of the cardinal sins of the MF world! :nono Read through the post and see how to use the vinegar in the rinse cycle.
 
I just run then through 2 rinse cycles instead of using vinegar...unless of course you think you used way too much soap......and no, you can't use fabric softener...lol
