Should I zaino?

I had a pro detailer come by and give my car the works...

Excuse me for not knowing the correct terms... but he mainly clay bar'd, polished, then waxed...

This was probably a month ago or so...

My question is, can I zaino (Z2 + accelator) my car now or is that not gona bond? May be useless? Would I have to remove the previous wax?

Should I just be washing my car like normal?

If you really have a wax on your car, conventional wisdom would say Zaino won't bond over that. However, Z-CS (Clear Seal) should. Or you could follow Sal's advice and Dawn wash and then put your choice of Zaino sealant on. Or use Z-AIO to remove your base "wax" and then follow with the sealant.

However, I don't think Z-1 is made anymore, that was the "bonding agent" that was used before ZFX and Z-AIO. You'd want to use Z-2, Z-3, Z-5 or Z-CS.

I don't think Zaino is worth it, personally. It's just a sealant with a hefty amount of user bias. You can get similar protection and gloss without all the Zaino silliness with something like Duragloss or Klasse (not very user friendly, however).

Now, I know I am going to be flamed. I've been around for a while and that's my conclusion and it's not the be all and end all. I know some really good detailers use it. I'm just one that does not.

Not by me. ;)

That's not to say Zaino is a bad product because it is quite good. However, I think other product lines are better.

If you are set on trying Zaino, I'd suggest ZAIO to polish the paint and Z5 to seal it. I think that combo is comparible to Werkstat Prime and Acylic Jett or Optimum Poli-Seal and Opti-Seal. Each one has their own look (especially Werkstat) but all three will give months of protection.

I know some people will come in here and tell you to get all the Zaino products but to get the Zaino look you really don't need them all IMO. ZAIO + Z5 is a very easy and goof proof combo. Save your detailing $$$ for what really matters, polishing out the paint as swirl free as possible.

Sorry guys, I meant to say Z2, not Z1....

Can i put Z2 + ZFX over my waxed vehicle? The wax used was Zymol

I already have the Z2 + ZFX... so I'll consider the other products in the future :)

The guy was just asking if it was a good idea to put Zaino over a month old wax. You used the terms "hefty bias, silliness and end all." So if you get flamed, you brought it on yourself.

Zaino isn't for everybody. It is for those who take prep seriously and get the oils and wax off the paint-otherwise your wasting your time and money. ZCS is a pretty cool product. ZAIO and CS are easy, durable and inexpesive per application.

There's a lot of good products out there. Some like it some don't.

If you're set on using it then use it.

That said, if it's already been a month or so, the previous wax may already be gone so I would just wash it well and try the ZAIO to prep the surface bofore the Z2.

No, you have to remove the wax first for Zaino to bond correctly. Washing with Dawn is the quickest and easiest way.

If you're unhappy with the wax, why? Is it looks? Longevity?

You're detailer took the time and effort to obtain a great look. Now you want to change it?

Hey, it's your car, so go with what looks good and works for you.

As for Zaino, if the finish is good (as I assume from the detailer), then Z-CS or use the Z5/ZFX and or Z2/ZFX. Z6 between coats, Z8 to maintain. Great for long time coverage.

Most people will do a sealant for fall/winter, then switch to wax for summer.

It's all personal preference, do what makes you happy!

Agreed. No need to Dawn wash since ZAIO will remove the old wax and lay down a good base for Z2 or Z5. Personally, I like Z5 more because it has a more carnauba look to me.

so is Z5 a polish? If I removed the old wax and then Z2... shouldnt I then apply a wax on top of it?

I use Zaino occassionally on customers cars and this is my advice:

1. Don't bother slapping on Zaino on your car at this moment.

It needs a clean, well-prepped surface to show off it maximum potential.

2. Once started on the Zaino program, you'll be more or less stuck to it.

I acknowledge the strengths of Zaino and I use it on my ride as well.

However, vs other products, it requires more understanding and commitment from the user, and is not a cure-all for everything. It has its own distinctive look, and it depends whether you like this look or not.

Do a normal wash with a non-silicone/wax containing shampoo. The wax has long ago left the stage unless this vehicle is a "garage-queen".

Wipe down your finish with isopropyl alcohol / Prepsol-type product to remove any residual oils.

Your surface is now ready for application of Z2/ZFX or any New product that you want to change to.

It is not very complicated to prep for a Zaino conversion.

Now apply the Zaino in the same manner that you would any protectant. Wipe-on, allow to haze and Wipe-off. :up

Some of the fist guys that get mad about people mentioing Zaino on other posts are the first ones that come on here and tell people not to use it (which isn't eve what the OP was asking).

The question was, CAN I ZAINO over my waxed car.

The answers have been, I think other products are better...

I've been using Zaino Z2/ZFX/Z6 since I bought this 5 months ago, Car's an 09, pretty much happy with it , ordered some Einszett to try it out, will let u know.

So is Z2 a polish? Are all Zaino products considered to be a polish?

If yes, shouldnt a wax be applied over the polish to obtain maximum shine/protection?
