Should I buy these?

My friend has 275/40/17 Nitto 555Rs on the back of his Cobra. One tire got a screw in it, and he's getting it plugged today. They have about 5-7k miles left on them. He'll sell me both for $100.

I can then sell my front tires (and put my new rear kumho's up front), sell my BFG/stock wheels combo, and make some money in the process.

I have no worries about driving daily on drag radials, especially at this time of year, but will it be ok driving on a plugged tire? He said he's going to have it patched from the inside. Will it be safe running at the track as well?
 
'96 with the LT1, so probably around 100 mph in the 1/4. 100 mph on a plugged tire. :dunno
In my case I would ask the guy I buy my tires from his opinion. He is a straight shooter and isn't out to sell more than you need. If I remember, I will ask him what he thinks.

My bad, it's not being plugged. It's getting patched from the inside...I'm gonna go with him at 2:15 to have it done. Alot of people I know confirmed it's safe and that they do it all the time trapping 115+ in the 1/4 on Nitto's.
