I've been debating a DA polisher for as long as i've signed up (1 year). I've done a fair amount of research on the PC/UDM and now flex. basically, ive been waiting for good deals, and finally theres a 40% off utima kit special (Ultima Clean, Protect & Preserve Paint with Dual Action Polisher Kit 245-40%= $147)

now for the flex ~$300, i can justify the extra cost because the time i took to decide on a DA could be "saving up time"

my question is, never detailing with a machine other than a sears old school 10" buffer and doing everything by hand...can i make the jump to such a powerful machine?

what would some of your recommendations be?

i want something i can grow and learn on for years, not something im going to need upgrade in the future.

Take the time to learn rotary skills. Demote your proter cable to wax jobs. Buy a makita 9227c. Use the money you saved to buy a gallon of menzerna polish.

I jumped in with the Flex, now my wife is starting to book my Sundays for her family's cars . . . I love it. If you've been reading for a year, you have more experience than I did ;)

Go to your local hardware store and get a nylon washer that fits between the screw and backing plate, it's a very wise $.50 investment!
