Hi all, just a quick question mainly for all you American members.



Do you all buy your products from the `net.



Reason i ask is, i will be coming over on holiday this year and i was wondering if there are any shops or outlets where i can buy polishes, waxes even MF towels.



As i`m sure you know, things tend to be rather more expensive over here in the UK, and i was thinking of stocking up while i`m over there. Also some products aren`t available at all over here.



For example, are the pakshak MFs available in any shops?



Sorry if this has already been covered, and thanks in advance.
 
If you know where you are staying while over here, could you order products and have them shipped before you fly over? Unless you are visiting Autogeek's or CMA's brick and mortars in Florida, it will be hard to find the boutique products you are probably searching for.

Thing is we will be doing a bit of touring, not really staying in any 1 place too long.



1 other thing, are PCs available in any shops?



BTW i`m sure we will enjoy, cant wait to get back to the Cheesecake Factory :)
 
The easiest place for a PC is Lowes a wharehouse type of hardware store that sells a 7336 for $99. You can find a store in every major city in the US. As far as where to buy stuff it really depends on what are you looking for. Small brands such as Poorboys, Pinnacle, Wolfgang, ect.. are really mail order stuff. Other stuff like Meguiars can be bought at any auto part store and you probably have to find an auto paint store to find the professional line. I'm sure you can get stuff like P21, Autoglym, and Klasse in the UK given that these are european brands. FYI S100 which is the same as P21 can be bought at Harley Davidson motorcycle shops. I love that cheesechake too. Good luck.

Jetskie, believe it or not the Klasse isn`t that easy to get hold of over here, and you might know, thats what i`m after.
 
Lowes won't have backing plates and pads. I usually find Klasse localy at Mercedes or Porsche dealers. It really depends on the dealer. I usually find pads and backing plates at auto paint stores. You can check Meguiars.com to see where you can find you can buy pads in the city you are visiting.
 
shipping items internationally is not too bad. There any many excellent vendors that ship internationally with a more than adequate selection of products. Pakshak, excel, PAC, autopiaCC, autogeek off the top of my head. You will buy at the US prices, and only pay a bit extra on shipping. What can't you get into the UK? The only thing that comes to mind as painful to get overseas at reasonable prices is Zainos.



Roughly, the basic shipping charges are usually $11 + $1.45 per pound (weight) -- There is also typically a $5 handling fee for custom forms, packaging etc.



Also, if your looking to get a PC in the US and use it in the UK remember you will have to use a transformer. There might be cheaper alternatives?

The shipping on cloths from PakShak is very reasonable, so I wouldn't worry about getting those in the USA. Lightweight stuff like cloths and mitts, I don't hesitate shipping over from the USA.



If you're going near Denver, then 'Detailers Paradise' have just opened up a store there... they sell Klasse, 4*, One Grand, 1Z, Porter Cable's, backing plates, pads etc etc.
 
Other than the PC, I wouldn't waste my time seaching for other products, just get out there and enjoy your holiday, you can't put a price on that.

You obviously know more about this lot than me.



As for Denver, i`m not so sure. Havn`t worked out an exact route just yet, but it will be something like : NY, Chicago, Wichita, Phoenix, San Diego, LA.



So this Detailers Paradise, is it a one off, or are there a chain of them?



Anyway i`m sure we will enjoy very much.
