Shoe Scuffs on Interior

I've done two cars with extreme amounts of black shoe scuffs on the driver door and the bottom where the door shuts. To clear up the area I mean,

, where it says M3. I just sprayed some all in one cleaner on it and scrubbed until it was gone, but I'm assuming there's an easier way I don't know about. Any ideas?

For shoe scuffs on plastic (newer cars) I often use a dampened Mr. Clean Magic Eraser..... you want to be gentle because it is a light abrasive and will dull paint. I'm not sure if that M3 area is stainless, but I'd be very careful especially on the painted M3 logo.

I just used that picture as an example, but thanks for the ideas. I'll have to try both because what I was trying was nothing short of painful.
