Just out of curiousity, Is there any shine differences between a wax and paint sealant???? Tks everyone :up

there are very big differences, which are next to impossible to quantify with words. Sealants like Zaino are very bright and reflective - almost "plastic - y." Some have commented that Zaino looks almost like wrapping your car in Saran wrap.

Carnauba will make the paint look richer and deeper. On black, for example - it looks like a black pool.

Does zaino protect your car as well as paste wax?

Wax doesn't really protect all that much. At best it is only going to last a few weeks. Maybe 2 1/2 months. Sealants are designed for longevity and protection. Waxes are more for appearance. Never expect a wax to protect your car for long. They break down to easily. Treat a car with Zaino and another car with the finest carnauba and then put them in Las Vegas in August and I'll bet the carnauba will burn off in one day. The Zaino will last several weeks longer than any carnauba.

Not forgetting you can have the best of both worlds, you can top Klasse, Autoglym etc with wax. This way you have protection and the depth that wax gives you.

I second that. My car has had AIO + SGx2 on it, which I topped with P21S yesterday. It really does give the best of both worlds as far as sealant durability / looks and carnauba's "deepness" and general look to it.

Take a look at the thread by Detail King "Found my Zaino ZFX vs Souveran topper pics...." He posted pictures of Zaino alone and Zaino with P21S as a topper. Not one viewer guessed right as to which was which in any of the pictures. Now as far as seeing them in real life, who knows. Try it and see. It might be different on your vehicle, anyway.

Tks guys for the help :up I've been interested in prowax lately and when spring rolls around here, I would like to get some of it. I was thinking of this combination. Wash, prep, clean etc... maybe do this combo????? Pro's P-73-Q Paint Sealant topped off with there W-41 Yellow Wax:D :D :D I think this combo should give off stunning shine and great protection at the same time. What do you guys think???

It certainly couldn't hurt to try. :xyxthumbs Like Charles pointed out, the visual difference is very subtle, and shouldn't be a huge consideration really. I bet most people would probably have a hard time telling between them unless they were really familiar with how that car looked both bare and coated with each.

A lot of people like the idea of using a "traditional" type wax while having the polymer sealant underneath it as extra protection. Given how we can't keep our hands off our cars that long anyway, it's kind of overkill in practice, but it feels good. :D

shine is in the eye of the waxer :xyxthumbs

different waxes and polymers definately give different looks

what makes it even more interesting is that different color and different finished form different manufacturers also give different looks

conclusion: keep on trying products out till you get the look you want

Prowax was designed for teh professional detailer. Its "generic" waxes and polishes sold in bulk, that provide nicde results and are easy to use. I doubt as an enthusiast you would be happy with the durability....

For carnubas try blitz, souveran, P21S......

Sealants, Zaino, Blackfire, Klasse.........

Hope this helps......

Wax will not last as long as a sealant but how long it will last depends more on environmental conditions than anything else. A typical carnauba wax's melting point is around 170 dg/f and will begin to evaporate almost immediately in a sunny climate. A high quality wax should last 4-8 weeks if properly applied and followed by proper washing. I have tested this in Southern Ontario where we go from -20 in the winter to 110+ in the summer and have gotten the same results consistantly.
