Sheepskin wash mitt grooming? (dog owners help)

Anyone who's used a sheepskin or lambswool wash mitt will know about this. You buy a brand new mitt, it's luxuriously soft and furry, like a nice fur coat. Once you snap out of it and stop feeling up the fur (:D) you just use it once and then the wool gets all matted down and clumped together in little bundles. :( A few weeks ago I convinced a friend to finally use his, and he screamed, "You ruined it!!!" He was kidding of course, but I hated seeing it too.

I've seen various brushes for dog grooming and a little lightbulb went on in my head. I'd like to try to brush the smoothness back into my washmitt! Now the question is, do I use a slicker brush with all those fine metal bristles? Or do I use a um... grooming comb (?)... the one with the single row of round teeth?

Yes, I am crazy. :p

When I started car detailing 2 yrs ago, I went to Macy's and got good quality cotton 100% bath towels..couple of months later, I was shopping around local auto shops to look for any good deals (I think this is normal).. but since I joined autopia, I go to many other stores to get the products for my car. Foodmarket to get vinegar, Dollar shop to get MF towels..Tomorrow I think I need to go to one of Pet-shop to get cat brush..:p

Is there any cure for autopian disease? I think I just infected my GF, she also enjoys hanging around here.:D

LOL, I find that whenever I go to any store with the wife, I am constantly looking at the most abstract items and asking myself "How can I apply this technology towards Automobile Detailing?":D

4DSC,

I have not had this problem. I wash my sheep skin mitt in the washer with the drying towels. I turn it inside out to dry, then flip it right side again for the last few minutes of tumble. I get about a year out of a mitt. I know the washer is hard on the mitt, but I like it nice and fluffy.

LOL, I didn't expect THIS crazy thread to be resurrected! Yeah I always find I'm doing that too Nag.

Incidentally I picked up a medium grade dog comb a while ago... it was cheap and I was bored. :p I haven't used it yet though.
