Hello everyone. I’m curious if any off you out there use the same machine I do. It’s a Makita 9217SPC. I have used this for several years and it has never failed me. About 4 summers ago I let a friend use it for a big job he had, and I totally forgot about it until spring rolled around. He said he left it by the door to my basement. Well, it was right where he said it was in the same canvas bag I kept it in all the time. After I let it dry out for a good amount of time I plugged it in, and to my surprise it worked just as well as it always did. To this day I still use it. I have never once cleaned it or had it worked on. This thing has been so good to me. It definitely should have failed by now and I know it.

Well, I just ordered a UDM for everyday jobs and you best believe it will be taking well care of. You cant get lucky too many times in life without it coming back to bite you in the butt. No more chances. Maybe I will have some time to send the Makita out for the cleaning of its life.

by the way, what do you use the wool bonnets for? I have no good use for them.

I know they use to include them with some polishers, but i have not seen any mfg's include them anymore.

This is actually a variable speed buffer.

1) 1500r/min 2)1750r/min

3) 2000r/min 4) 2300r/min

5) 2550r/min 6) 2800r/min



The pads I used last are the Velcro type not the tie on. I detailed two cars that needed a lot of correction ( 1970 Challenger and 1968 442 ) and the customer insisted on me using these pads specifically. So I did. They worked just fine. The foam pad was partially eaten by my helper Max.
