Shake It Up

First of all let me say I love the Z product. Having said that, I'm beginning to get paranoid. Several weeks ago I had the ZFX gel up but it was replaced with no questions asked. I've been periodically keeping my eye on the replacement to ensure it doesn't gel. My latest concern is today I opened one of the boxes of Zaino that I've had for several months and a brand new bottle of Z2 looked like it was separating. By that I mean the bottom part had an orange tint with the top portion resembling water. I shook it up good and it went back to its natural pink color. I store all my products indoors but I guess I'm going to have to at least monthly shake up all my liquids.

I don't mean to flame Z with this post. In my opinion this is a good practice for all products.

That's quite normal with Z2. Just shake it up before use and you'll be fine.

I havent seen ZFX gel up yet, and hopefully I won't.

Sal mentioned on another forum that Z2 contains a re-wetting agent that aids in flow out and spreadability. This additive is the layer you are seeing that separates out. Simply shake the product again before use. There is no concern that this separation is anyway related to the ZFX gel issue.

Many products have additives that may separate over time. Products do not need to be routinely shaken to prolong there life. Just shake a produt before use if it has separated.

There is no reason to believe just because an additive separates that the product may have "gone bad." It is a good idea; however, to store products away from temperature extremes, light, and humidity.

Sal has information on product longevity posted on the Zaino site. Most are good for a year or more with shaking...

I have had two bottles of ZFX dry out within a year. I quit buying them because they are too expensive. If I want to use Zaino now, I just use Z5 or Z2 by itself. I have not had a problem.

Yes, it's my experience that Zaino stands behind all their products.

I really believe the Z2 will be fine. As a standard practice I'm going to periodically give all my bottles a shake (especially the ones I infrequently use).

You know there's an 18 month Zaino warranty with free replacement just for this situation.

Actually, no. I have been using Zaino for a long time (4yrs or so), and I just stopped using ZFX. I don't use Z1 either, and still get a good 4 months out of a couple layers. I just bought a new F150 so the detailing bug is biting again. I lost it around 100,000 miles on the Explorer (it has 121,000 now). I have some Prime and AJ to try on the new truck and see how it goes. Anywhoo I do have some Z2 that separates and I have not had a problem with it. Just shake well.

I think some of the issue is with polishes, for instance, where the solids will settle out on the bottom, and it might take quite a bit to mix them back in by shaking, if it sits for years like that. If you have an opaque bottle, you can't really tell whether you've got it all mixed back in. Just for example, I was shaking a bottle of VM, and closely looking at the white stuff on the bottom. It took much, much longer than I would have shaken an opaque bottle to get it all mixed back in, and it hadn't been sitting for that long.

Shake it up! You should see Red Moose Glaze seperate after about a week! There's about an inch of water on the top in less than a week!

Doesn't it say Shake Well on the bottle somewhere? Most products do, the difference is that not many products are in clear bottles, so you don't see how ugly it is before you shake shake shake...
