SG and over night dust

Sup Fellas, iam going to apply the Klasse twins, but for the SG i want to leave it over night, but i dont have a complete garage only a roof and a backwall. And my truck is black so what do i do with the dust that is ontop of the SG before i buff it off. Do i just rinse it to get the dirt off, or if its just little dirt just use an mf towel and some QD to lighten the dirt up. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Use Sonus Acrylic Spritz only. I had the same setup last year. It won't be a problem with dust. I suggest doing it later in the day when it's cooler. Acrlic Spritz is great to spray on the applicator to get the SG to smooth for evenly giving it a thinner application ='s excellent coating.

You probably already know but make sure you allow 18-24 hrs before another coat.

Thanks for the Tip, but i dont have any Sonuz Acrylic Spritz at the moment, and i wanted to start SG my truck do think i can just rinse the truck off before i buff with water, or should i just wait to get the Acrylic Spritz. Thanks.

I would just use the WOWO method, and buff off the SG after you have applied it. I haven't noticed any decrease in longevity, or results. You can also then quickly wash off or QD the car the next morning, and apply another coat the same way.

On a side note, I only occasionally use SG now after finding UPP. It just goes on so much easier, and smoother, and I love its results. Once in awhile I put a coat or 2 of SG in between, but lately I've just been skipping it all together.

Na. :down It does make a difference in longevity, shine and coating. Also, you can't apply it the next day or as he says the next morning. I put 2 coats 24 hrs on and 24 hrs apart and it will last 10-12 months. I have show cars that last 18 months and going on one of my show cars. I've been using KSG for 5 years and my Uncle who taught me has been using it for 9 years. Mr. Hyde isn't it funny where going back and forth about sealents! ha ha ha

I like UPP but it doesn't touch SG's longevity and depth on darker paints. I bought one bottle of UPP a year ago and I still have it.

You can use another QD just make sure there's no alcohol in it. I know Meguire's doesn't. Use that or a California Duster to get the dust off (what I use).

Dont use Meguairs QD before Klasse SG please .

If you must use a locally available product , try and get mothers reflections spray wax as it's truly synthetic and probably the most compatible .

Last resort use Meguiars NXT Speed Detailer , not any other

If it were me I would just wait it out and order Sonus Acrylic Spritz and do the car in a few days when it arrives . You can always clean again with AIO , no biggie I would think .

This will ensure your protection last longest as it was intended .

Are you saying you want to leave the SG on over night OR leave the truck over night before applying SG? If leaving overnight before applying, I'd take a couple clean bed sheets and carefully set them on the hood and roof. A quick dusting with a plush MF should be OK to get any dust off before SG.

Audipower: So your saying that leaving SG on til it fully cures will produce better longevity and shine? I know holy wars have been started over this, but I like making educated decisions about how I apply my products. I guess I'm more concerned about it being harder to buff off after it has sat for a long time. Do you still apply super thin layers when leaving it sit before removal? Since you've been using it for years, what do you think about a diluted (3 or 4 to 1 -- water:SG) solution for a QD?

The only thing that makes it harder to remove is using to much. You actually have a better chance of getting it all if you do let it cure overnight. I use Concours Buffing Towel to remove it. I like the performance with the Concours. You use less effort. The first application your going to use to much especially where you start. meaning, where you first start applying. It's really not that big of a deal to get off when you use to much, it just takes elbo grease. Compared to a light rub.

I don't dilute it, never. I just use Acrylic Spitz on the pad. I don't dilute my beer, I don't dilute my SG.

Yes, there has been many wars, but the non-SG guys are like the Confederates. They never admit they lost the war. :usa

I never noticed a difference in longevity between both methods, and I've been using the twins for 5+ yrs now as well. Im now on my 3rd vehicle with them. I also noted the paint on my blue cars to get more depth from the AIO than the SG which is why I always use it as a foundation after whatever prep work I need to do.

If he puts a coat on this morning, buffs it off now, and reapplies tomorrow morning after Qd'ing, thats a perfectly good amount of time to allow it to cure, and definitely fits within the 18-24 hour window.

UPP definitely does not last as long as SG, but it just goes on and off so much quicker, and easier that I can easily put on a coat on after a wash whenever I want. I love the wet look, reflections, and smooth as silk finish it provides. Its practically like using a good carnauba. In fact, its just so quick, and easy that I use it much more than I ever used SG, and a fresh coat of either one always beats one thats a few months old.

He also shouldn't avoid any QD with alcohol in it on his paint. Anything with carnauba should be avoided as well if he plans on putting on another coat as it will interfere with the bonding. The Sonus and 4 star UGE both work great with the Klasse twins giving them a little freshening that I never got with any other QD.

Whatever your poison, since he does not have a completely enclosed garage I still would not recommend leaving any product on the car overnight to buff off in the morning. You say dust will not be a problem, but I disagree. If dew collects on the cool sheet metal overnight; dirt, dust, and whatever else gets blown onto the car will stick to it, and the damp sealant just to be rubbed into the the paint while buffing it off. :soscared: Defeats the purpose if you ask me.

I personally try and keep the car completely dry for at least 24 hours after buffing off a coat of SG or UPP to let it set with no interference, so I dont know how Id feel about hosing off the car with an unbuffed layer still sitting on it. I also dont know if a rinse would remove any dirt particles sitting on the sealant, so I personally wouldn't do it.

Thing is if you leave the stuff on overnight a light spray down to wash dew and/or dust off is fine if you want to dry it and get it ready for SG

I guess i am going to have to go with doing a layer of SG in the afternoon and letting it cure wipe off and then apply another layer of SG in the morning. Better to be safe than sorry, thanks for the comments fellas.

P.S.

Guess i will just have to wait to get a complete garage before i try the SG overnight and see if it really makes a diffrence on the performance and shine of the SG.

There's one from Menzerna that's supposed to work well with AIO/SG: High Gloss Acrylic Shield; I'm going to try that for my next QD.

There is some commen sense involved. Don't do it if it's raining, drop in temp drastically causing dew when you don't have a garage and just a carport.

Mr. Hyde did say great points in differences between the two. SG and same with UPP it depends on the color of the vehicle with shine. I don't use it for shine. I leave that up to clean paint and carnuba. I use it for depth on darker cars, but primarly for protection. I have 3 good friends that love UPP, but even them don't use it during the winter. Because SG is better protection toward salt. That's what helps you have that shine for years in Ohio.

I really like Autoglym Super Resin Polish for something quick. I was blowen away how well it cleaned the paint and how long it lasted for a sealent. It lasted 3.5 months. I tried it earlier this year on this cute girls car that didn't have much money to get the complete detail. So, I told her I could do a three step for cheap. I clayed, Super Resin Polish, P21S. It came out really nice wet look on her '05 blue civic. I seen her a couple times since and it still looks great, basically much much better than before. She said it washes easier, stays cleaner and still has great shine.

Keep us up on what you did.
