Sfx-3 V2.0

I recieved the SFX-3 V 2.0 today and figured i would give it a shot.

I am a fan of the older SFX-3, and i am in love with the new version.

It simply is the best product in its class that i have used so far.

I applied it with a blue DAS pad, and worked it in on speed 5.

The first thing i noticed about it was the instant slipperiness of the product. I spread it with the PC off, then clicked it on, and wow, the pad took right off just gliding over the surface.

The second thing i noticed, and it was almost instantly, at the same time as above, was how far this product was going to spread. I started with a clean dry pad, no priming, but i squirted a good sized amount onto the pad, i dont skimp on the initial loading of the pad.

Well, i ended up buffing 1/3 of my f-150's hood with just the initial amount. I used alot less on the rest of the panels, keeping to a 2x2 working area.

I must admit, it would be very easy to try to stretch the working area of the product to say a 3x3 area. It never gummed, dried, flashed, or dusted, even on a large area.

But i kept it to a 2x2 area for today, and was very pleased with the ease of use.

Wiping off the product was not a chore at all. I dont think anyone will ever need a QD to remove this stuff. When i was making the final passes with the MF the paint was squeeky clean, and was 10 miles deep. Absolutly flawless finish, it was perfect.

I topped it with z2 pro with ZFX.

I had been experiencing some trouble with my Z2, i had no slickness at all. My MF was grabby, and i was assuming it was the humidity when i applied it last.

I have awesome slickness now. I used the 3M PI 3000 SMR last time, so i am now assuming that Z2 doesnt bond correctly to it, although i have gone 8 weeks with no problems with the looks, just no slickness.

Thanks again David for the kind offer with the revised SFX's, and big thanks for making this polish. I dont do alot of vehicles, but i do it because i enjoy it, and Sonus SFX-3 really makes me enjoy bufiing my paint :2thumbs:

Sounds like a great product.

The thing that stops me trying it is that it costs the same as the old SFX3 and is half the size!

Thanks for the review, JBM. I have my bottles sitting right here, and just don't have the time to try them out. I'm glad to hear that working time was increased because that's exactly what DavidB said he was pinpointing in the new design, along with a lot of other things.

I hear ya. I have them sitting out screaming for my PC. I might give them a try on a neighbors car this weekend. He asked to "buff out" some things lolol...

If your a hobbyist, then i would definatly at least try this product, it is outstanding.

Considering i do this just as a hobby, i am always in search of products that make the process as enjoyable as possible. That includes no dusting, easy on easy off, long working time, and No Trim staining.

Good looks really is secondary, for me. If something is the holy grail of detailing, but fights me, i wont use it.

The SFX3 meets all my personal requirements, plus it is Z and SG compatible.

I never mention its scent either. I would have to go back into the garage and smell it as i cant remember what it was, but it wasnt chemically at all. It smelled familiar, but i cant place it.

I had a chance to work with the 2nd version of SFX1 and SFX2 today, and they worked well, although SFX1 wasn't able to tackle the scratches I was working on (I may just need a more aggressive pad). I had no problems working them into the paint, but I experienced quite a bit of dusting with both, but more with SFX2. SFX1 smells somewhat like a Meguiar's banana/tropical smell, while SFX2 reminds me of sunblock lotion.

Are there any more reviews of these new, version 2 Sonus SFX polishes? I'm going to be doing my first polishing with SFX-1 and SFX-2 both version 1 and am wondering if I should buy the version 2 polishes instead. Are they that much better??? If it's significantly easier to remove the version 2 polishes I'd consider eating my version 1 polishes (not literally, just figuratively) and getting version 2. Recommendations??
