Sequoia trim ???

Wife's Sequoia is a solid black Limited. Between the body and the wheel flares is a rubber piece about 1/4 inch wide. How would you protect this during polish/wax. It's really to thin to tape. Do I have to do this area by hand only?

Apply a liberal amount of vinyl dressing to the trim prior to waxing...don't even wipe it or buff it..this way if you should happen to spill wax or polish on the trim it will wipe right off without leaving a stain.

would some KY jelly do the trick as well?

kind of like people do on cruise-in ans race nights. put KY jelly on the rear fenders so that you can easily wipe off the burnt rubber.

will this vaseline(sp?) stain rubber trim?

Great....now we have people confusing their bathrooms, or bedrooms with the garage....but to answer your question, no ky jelly will not stain as it is water based...but it wont give the shine and protection of a quality automotive viny dressing. And to say it would be short lived....well that would be an understatement.

Your going to have to treat the triim anyway...so just use the appropriate product and be done with it.

:D no i didnt mean to leave it on there as a protectant. just as a means to wipe off any excess wax on plastic trim.

but it will keep the trim from chapping/ drying out on cold winter days! :rofl
