SEO can also lift your site, by helping search engines find your site. Search engines on the Internet allow users to type in key words such as “detailers,” “detail services,” a company name, or anything else. In the blink of an eye, the search engine scans the millions of sites on the web and lists those that have meta-tags identical to the typed-in search term.

This tool is very helpful for finding out the strongest words on your site. Make sure you keep your site title relevant to the content. Some things to include; keyword research, title tag and word search optimization, search, working on HTML source code, image, hyperlink and header tag optimization and page ranking - SEO, Search Engine Optimisation, Web Design & Internet Marketing

Before you start just adding keywords to help with your website's organic rankings, make sure you are using the keyword that is right for you. Some people just look at what is the most searched terms and try to incorporate those into their site, but that isn't the right approach.

You want to select the keywords that have search volume, that aren't overly competitive, and relevant to your business. (I will say the last part again.... relevant to your business) - You want the right traffic not just traffic.

Start by creating categories of the services you provide and research similar keywords to see what the best keyword is for you in each category. You may want to optimize for 2 or 3 in each....

Here are a few Keyword tools:

Quick tips:

People type in problems they are trying to solve into search engines. Think about the searcher's intent. A detailer thinks "headlight restoration", a Google searcher thinks "fix cloudy headlights"

Create an excel spreadsheet to help refine your keywords include data on search volume, your current rank for that keyword and the page URL that is ranking. Using excel makes it easy to filter columns and sort the data.

Include geographical terms like City / State / County or Region / zip code

Once you have choosen the words you think are most appropriate think about how and where you can incorporate them into your website. Does your website's architecture have the ability to support your keywords or is new content needed or a new structure needed.

The exercise of page matching is to find a home for each keyword (or grouping of keywords) for a page within your site. Many site's I have viewed list all their services on a single page. It becomes difficult to optimize the same page for Head light restoration as it is for your Paint correction service.

Once you find a home for each keyword(s) - start to incorporate that keyword within that page's content, HTML elements [Title tag, Meta Description, Headline tags, Alt image Tags, etc] - if you can't do this ask your webmaster, but please make it easy for them by providing them all the info.

I hope I have helped and not confused anyone.

I like your site btw toyota guy.

Do you have the ability to put text and links in the footers area?

It is a great spot for adding area served ie cities and text links with keywords rich anchor text. (The text the link says)

Thanks!

I have no idea, Ill have to talk to my web guy about it.

Thanks for the input, Ill have to get to it over the next couple weeks and hopefully get it going. I just have a lot going on right now, but have no clue about SEO.

Be careful not to have more than 7-9 keywords. Also, they need coincide with your website. A few years ago I used to think you had to add every keyword under the sun but its just not true. Google cuts off anything over 7-10 keywords depending on number of characters. You can find keyword analyzer tools online that can tell you how the search engines see your site. I don't have the links saved on this computer but I'll post them up later tonight or tomorrow.

Edit* here is the one I use myself Meta Tag Analyzer

You can optimize your site for any number of keywords. The 7-9 keywords is a good rule of thumb when adding keywords into the title tag. (The actual character count is 70 to optimize for.) Weight is given to words closer to being first and proximity to each other.

Has anyone used Google Adwords to try and advertise for your business? I know you can sign up for Adwords, and get Keywords from them, but I am unsure if I should use 'pay per click' advertising.

I always keep campaigns running now. You can set a monthly limit on what you want to spend

Hello,

The question is good, however, there is no generic set of keywords. Otherwise everyone would be using that list. The goal is to find YOUR specific keywords that hopefully no-one else using (or almost no-one), so that google gives you preference. Such as bodyshop san mateo or auto repair south bay.

In some cases you use one combination of keywords for one page, on other cases you use different order.

That makes it somewhat unique, and natural enough - precisely what google's looking for.
