Seatbelts - cleaning out of the car

As many of you already know, I am in the market for a 2002 Maxima SE with a few twists (See post in customizing for the twists). I checked out a few dealerships and decided to go with a new dealership to see if they could pull the trigger on this deal.

I will be hearing about that next week. :D

In the meantime, this is what I am ordering:

Color: Super Black/Black

Options:

Meridian Package

Leather Package (Unfortunately, the Bose is a part of the package)

Heated Steering Wheel & Seats

Traction Control

Automatic Transmission

Power Sunroof

Splash Guards

noooooo, not the automatic transmission!!!! I hate the new maxima's auto tranny. IT ALWAYS UPSHIFTS TOO QUICKLY. If you are trying to accelerate moderately quickly, it always cuts in and shifts up, then you give it a little more gas to compensate and it violently kicks down. I could never get it to the redline even if i floored it. Don't get me wrong, the shift quality is first rate, however the software is way to non-performance oriented. This is one of the cars I looked at when I got the IS300, I would definitely get the stick shift. I drove a 2001 model, so it may be slightly different but I doubt it was changed. The reason I didn't get a maxima is because I could get an IS300 or Acura TL for around the same price (28K) which I feel are much better built cars.

WAIT!!!!!! Are you saying you got your IS for only 28K? How the hell did you do that? That's even under INVOICE! When I got mine about 3-4 months ago, I was told that the only model that I can get under INVOICE is the sportscross, and even a sportscross cost more than $28K. I paid a little over 5K more than you did (out the door price), and as far as I know that was just $700-$800 above INVOICE. I hope this is a typo otherwise I won't be able to sleep tonight!

BTW, one thing. Maxima is roomier than IS300. Try fitting 3 passenger in the back of IS is a real workout!

hehe, you will be pissed when you hear this. I got my IS300 for 25,482 out the door :D . I used to work at the lexus place and we are very good friends. I got the car way under invoice. please don't hurt me :(

I'M FLYING OVER TO BOSTON TONIGHT. NO RIGHT NOW! Hope Klasse withstands all the eggs I'm about to throw on your car.

That's one sweet deal Alboston! :up Man I'm speechless! I'm quitting my job and filling out a resume for Lexus! LOL

Well william I did get an awesome deal, but you must remember I did not get moonroof or leather. So hopefully that will calm the flame :sosad

Oh! I didn't know that.. But still. It's one heck of a deal!!! I guess I feel a little better. Grrrrr. Not really. :D heheh either way, I'm glad you got it at such a good price. Now back to the subject. :p

BTW, I'm still egging your car. LOL!

bring it, those yolks will bead like crazy. Your IS300 with blackfire on the other hand, it will be like frying an egg in an iron skillet . (hehe just messing william) :p

I would have gotten the stick but with the amount of commuting I do, the auto was a better choice.

Prinz, you're going to love the 2002 Maxima. I've driven them quite a bit and they are lots of fun. I love how it feels and responds when you accelerate very quickly from a dead stop. The 255 hp are very powerful yet very, very quiet. Awesome sound. As for the Bose, I have the Bose in my 2000 and all I did was add a pair of some 10 inch JL Audios in the trunk. I had a custom made box that fit perfectly in the trunk slot where the back seats are. This allows me to still enjoy the full trunk space. I have the amp right on top of the speaker box. All I can say is that these JBLs give the Bose a real good and clear sound. I've had dozens and dozens of audio buffs listen to the system and they're all impressed. Very simple and cheap upgrade to help improve the stock Bose system. Laters

Well, folks, they approved me for the financing. I have to head out to the dealership tomorrow to do the usual dickering and bickering associated with a new car purchase. :D

Also, they found a Maxima with the exact level of equipment I want in Milwaukee. They are going to do a trade for it so they can get the car there for the other goodies I am adding.

PRINZ!!! make sure it is shipped on a truck and they don't send a person from the dealership to drive it back for you. Where I work, if someone wants a car we send people to maine (saying they have it at a dealer in maine) to drive cars back to our dealer in mass. This puts 200+ miles on the car (most likely beaten miles). You don't want the car (especially with an automatic) to be beaten up the first 1000 miles of its life. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

Check this out. They happened to have a Glacier Pearl 2002 Maxima SE on the premises with the same level of equipment.

There is a possibility I may go that route. Also, they could not add the other goodies so I am on my own with those. But we are now dickering over my Eclipse 4441. I want them to install it in the new car and they are expressing doubts it can be done because of the steering wheel controls. I know for a fact it can be done.

<strong class='bbc'>The Glacier Pearl is a nice color. Definitely more detailer friendly than Super Black. Keep us informed. Laters [/b]</blockquote>
It may be detailer friendly, but it ain't body shop or paint chip friendly. That's my concern as well. This year, Chicago has a lot of major construction projects (including the expressway by my house) and I would :scared (read: have a major stroke) if the paint on the new Max got chipped.

Ok, gang. Here's the drill:

I may be waiting for 12 weeks, but I am going to order the car. I thought about getting the Glacier Pearl, but as I said, I don't find that too feasible because of the amount of construction going on in Chicago this year.

Another thing is that I am already going to be in somewhat of a combative mode because they lowballed me on my '94. If they jerk my chain on the resale value of my '94, I am so gone!

This Saturday will be the defining moment and it's now a race between 2 Nissan dealers.

One of the things I did before picking up the car was read the Technical Service Bulletins on it. Currently, there is a recall on 2002 Maximas because of the accelerator stopper. However, I pointed 2 more out to the dealership and they are going to go through EVERY Maxima they have in stock.

The first one is the fuel filler splash guard. The way to tell that is if you can see grit in the fuel filler door or you can see the ground through the small hole in the filler. This is corrected with a splash guard.

Second, and most important is the hood fluttering at highway speeds. When I test drove the car with the sales manager, he witnessed this with me driving 80+.

Finally, I just noticed that there was quite a bit of curb rash on my right front rim. I will see if they can replace it.
