Sealant or Wax or Both?

Let me just say the forum is great and is one my favorite. Thoughtful and respectful discussion abound. Also, the guide to detailing is a must read. My question I have is about sealants and waxes. It seems that with every post I read it changes my mind. Can I use both? If so, in what order? If not, then which one should I use and how should it be applied? By hand? With a PC/Cyclo? What about pads? I was thinking of using FMJ as my sealant and Zymol for my wax. I really would like that wet look and have a deep dark luster on my Speed Yellow Porsche. Thanks!

I think useing both is kinda pointless
 
I used AJT topped with 845 on my wheels and so far its working much better than just AJT alone...the brake dust is having a much harder time sticking.
 
For me it is just wax. Clay car first. Then polish with Men. fpII, red moose glaze, and then Pin. Souveran. wait 24 hours add 2nd coat PS. You'll find you ultimate shine.
 
FMJ will give you a great look and the silkiest touch out there. You can top it, but do not have to. The easiest product to remove I have found.

What clay bar do you recommend?



Also, it seems the red moose is made mostly for red and black cars. How about the Mez. glaze, have you tried it? Also, how does the Zymol compare to the Souveran?



The reason I ask about sealants is that it seems they protect the best, but waxes provide the best depth and luster. Although I might be wrong.
 
porscheC4S- I use both sealants and waxes, but I don't use *both* on the same vehicle.



One thing to consider is that waxes are far more forgiving of imperfect prep work. I only use sealants on the two vehicles that I can get *and keep* basically perfect.



Oh, and when it comes to protection, some here have found that some waxes seem to protect *better* than some sealants when it comes to stuff like bird bombs.



I apply waxes by machine (usually the Cyclo) but I prefer to apply sealants by hand as I find I can better control/effect the thin application that way. I buff off both with MF bonnets (again, usually on the Cyclo) with a quick follow-up by hand.
