sealant or carnauba???

Well, i had a black car and always find that carnauba waxes to look better than sealants. Now that I have a metallic red car, do you think i'd be better off with a sealant or should i just stick with my s100?

You can't go wrong with S100 but let me tell what I have found works terrific based on David Bynon's "perfect shine" formula:

1. Wash and clay the car. I like P21S soap and Sonus Block clay.
2. Apply thin layer of Klasse AIO.
3. Apply S100

So my answer is sealant plus wax. You get the protection of the sealant and the wetness of the wax. S100 goes on very easy over AIO. A great combination.

I'd say that same put a layer of sealant down wait 24 hours for cure time then a layer of wax. Its a great combo and will give you more protection

Not knowing your location, I have no way of knowing your weather conditions for the winter. If you can apply the S100 a few times through the winter, it will look great. I think a sealant might last a little longer, but for those of us that can/do add more product fairly regularly, I don't think the durability is a big factor. If you were happy with S100 on your black car, you will probably like it on the new one.:) It looked great on our red Grand Prix.
That said, I happen to use Klasse AIO and 4 Star UPP for my favorite combo during the winter months.:dunno

Well, durability isn't really an issue for me. I just want the best look on my metallic paint. I guess i'll stick with carnauba paste because it's really a joy to use. Has anyone used pinnacle signature?

I'm a paint guy and I can tell you if your not sealing your paint with something you need to get your mind right. Any of them, Zaino, Klasse, Wolfgang, UPP (Haven't tried but looks good), then top it with your S100 the next day. Waxes don't get into the little valleys in your cars paint, they for the most part sit on top. Seal it with something twice a year, and put your topper and it will look at least just as good as your topper, and your paint will thank you. A good sealant and your s100 is cheaper than the wax your asking about. I have heard that you really need to step it up to souvern if you want a difference on red or black.

Charles, is this your way of saying
Location, Location, Location :lol

dtail: apply your favorite sealant and top with your favorite carnuba, it will give you the protection you'll probably want in the winter.

Happy holidays

Who, me? :angel
Anyway, it didn't work. So far, three posters in the thread still aren't located anywhere.
Oh well, I try. :brick

If you seal the paint and it gets driven can you wash it the next day and then top, without diminishing the sealant??

Hey Mal, a fellow Atlantian!!

Anytime you wash your car, no matter when you applied the protectant, it will diminish the protecting abililities....even if the soap of choice says "Will not strip wax, etc."

A good option for you would be to use a safe Detail Spray, quick detailer, waterless wash, etc. with a quality MF towel. You'll save a ton of time doing so, and unless you really just drove through a ton of mud, it will not hurt a thing. Then apply your wax on top.

(See, this is a perfect example of WHY to put your location in your profile :D)

A viable alternative, and the more popular used one, is to use a liquid carnauba. For greater protection and ease of use, use one that contains polymers and resins. This will give you the shine and the ample protection you are looking for. I myself will use a paste "topper" at my next wash. :bigups

Thanks nick,
Thats what I thought. Haven't used a sealant before. I'll just stick to what I'm doing for clients then. Unless they are willing to leave it over night. I do have a few regulars though that may be willing. I like the look on some colors.

I live in Las Vegas so winter isn't really bad at all. I was just thinking of any way to improve the appearance of my metallic paint. Thanks for all the replies. Maybe I should go ahead and try that sealant+carnuba wax combo.
