This was my detail from Saturday. A friend of mine wanted to have his 2004 Mercury Mountaineer detailed inside and out. I went up to his shop and did the detail there.

The interior plastics and leather were pretty dirty and the interior needed an overall thorough cleaning.

Interior Process & Products

  • Interior thoroughly vacuumed
  • All plastics, vinyl, leather, etc was cleaned using Kleen APC diluted 8:1 (picked up at a local place, still testing it out) and race glaze detailing brush, and a vinyl & leather brush. Some of the hard plastics I used Kleen with a magic eraser.
  • Cup Holders, Vents, and carpets received a quick steam cleaning with my Vapor Clean Gaia
  • Plastics and leather were treated with 303 Aerospace
  • Windows cleaned with 2 Window MFs and Megs Window Cleaner
  • Gauge Cluster was cleaned with DP Plex-All

The exterior was equally as dirty.

Exterior Process & Products

  • Wheels/Tires rinsed with Karcher 2000psi pressure washer
  • Wheels sprayed with Iron-X - the drivers side rear wheel needed 4 cleaning with Iron-x and scrubbing to remove the heavy baked on brake dust.
  • Wheels agitated with Race Glaze XL wheel brush, lug nut brush, and soft wheel brush
  • Tires sprayed with Megs Super Degreaser dulited 4:1 and scrubbed with a stiff brush
  • Wheel wells received Megs Super degreaser and a scrubb with a wheel well brush
  • Exterior was pressure washed with the Karcher pressure washer then front and side mirrors were sprayed with Poorboy's Bug Squash diluted 3:1
  • Two bucket wash method with DP Xtreme Foam and Dawn mix. Used Chenille wash mitt.
  • Rinsed well, then sprayed with Iron-X left to dwell. I didn't include the Iron-x pics in the video, but here they are to show you the heavy contamination I was dealing with.

  • Vehicle was rinsed well again
  • De-tarred and adhesive from a sticker on the rear hatch removed using Stoner's Tarminator and a MF
  • Clayed using the Speedy prep towel and ONR diluted to clay lube strength
  • Dried with Cobra Waffle Weave towel
  • Blackfire Wet Diamond paint sealant was applied via PC 7424 and LC Blue pad
  • Tires dressed with Pinnacle Black Onyx
  • Wheel wells dressed with Protect-All (another local pick up, similar to Megs 40)
  • Exhaust tip cleaned with Optimum Metal Polish, 0000 steel wool, and MF
  • Door jambs cleaned with ONR

Now the video I put together. Thanks for viewing!

Nice vid and Awesome job on the Mountaineer SeaJay! My boss has a black one and ohhhh man whoever detailed it went to town on it with a rotary.....swirls still there, buffer trails galore and whatever they tried to do with it to make it look good failed...miserably. I don't think they even tried using a filler to hide the hack job!

Luckily the owner of the one you did won't suffer the same fate! Excellent job!!!

Where abouts in Mass are you?
