Martin it's funny that you say that, I saw the story on carwash.com and this is what Bud Abraham had to say about it.

"This could be a positive to carwashing if what they say is true about the finish correcting itself," Bud Abraham, president of Detail Plus Car Appearance Systems, Portland, OR, 36 year veteran of the carwash and detail industries and member of the International Carwash Association Board of Directors told Professional Car Care Online™.

"However, the problem is the tone of the statement in that they accuse carwashes of being the biggest reason for paint scratches," Abraham added.
.
It seems like both sides like the story. Detailers, now have confirmation from an auto maker that tunnel washes induce scratches, and tunnels wash owners now say that will be less of an issue.

I am more curious on how the paint does it.
According to the articles its takes a about week, so what happens to the dirt that gets on the surface, is it trapped in the paint/coating?
Is the "Scratch Guard Coat" an extra coat or part of the clear, meaning will polishing with a rotary or PC deminish its repairing ability any faster.

It sounds like a great idea, but so did GM's 4-6-8 engine

What do others think?
