Scratches under door handles

My cars look much better now since I've discovered Autopia :) and I'm seriously considering moving into the next phase and getting a PC, UDM, or a Flex. In the meantime, I can't help noticing the scratches under the door handles every time I admire my work :woot: Are there any recommended products or procedures to take care of these little scratches? Thanks!

Meguiar's M105 is absolutely amazing by hand in tight spaces.

So much so, even my 100 pound weakling of a girlfriend could remove 6 years of ring and finger scratches with ease! (And yes, I told her to be careful while doing this since she too has big nails and rings on haha).

I'm not sure if you have any polish but polish applied to a foam applicator and some elbow grease will take care of them.

Anything that will finish down well. The last thing you want to do is haze it up and have to cut the haze by hand (e.g., no 3M compounds!). I've had fine results using 106, UF, IP, etc.

After you get the scratches out from the door-handle depressions, apply some sort of 'clear bra' product to prevent it from coming back if the handle depressions are shallow or short.

Then - trim your fingernails closely and remove all rings to prevent this from continuing. (I get the door for my girl just for this reason, yet it's a two-fer, she thinks I'm such a gentleman.)

I know that goes against the pict's Lumadar has posted, but I bet she's allowed to do a lot more dangerous things than that around and in the car with those nails and rings on!

:chuckle:

Thanks everyone for the great advice. I'll get a sample of the M105 and give it a shot. Seriously looking into the G110 now too :)

That ring on her finger is making me nervous. One slip and ouch.

Haha, me too. She was mostly posing for those pictures, but I've taught her so well she actually stopped and took the rings off when she actually started polishing. Good girl.... :woot2:

Reminds me of something along the lines of old bmw, back seat, fun, window tint, heels, scratching, me, screaming, night, ending :furious:

I remove my door handles, very easy to do on both of our cars. My car is black and hand polishing just doesn't achieve the best results possible otherwise.
