Scratched glass

I have some scratches on my windshield that follow the arc of the wiper. My best guess is that some foreign material was dragged by the wipers. It's enough of a problem to hinder vision drastically especially since it's on the driver's side.



I tried some NevrDull dipped in some old Eagle One paste aluminum polish but it hardly made a difference. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.



(I know that there is a glass polishing thread but this question is not so much getting perfect glass as it is just getting glass that I can see through).
 
I've had good luck with red followed by White Rouge Polishing compound ...

There is a Glass Polishing Kit that works well too
