Has anyone tried Scratch X on interior wood trim? I have a visible scratch on front drivers side wood trim, (BMW 525i), the scratch does not 'catch' my nail when I go over it. Am hoping I can buff it out......

Any ideas?

TIA:) :wavey

On my wood trim i have light swirl marks...i do think that there is some kind of clear plastic layer over the actaul wood though...

You might want to try the plastic scratch removal sampler kit at janvil.com. I have not tried it but I bought their glass scratch kit and am waiting to try it out. Seems like a classy organization.

I would also be very interested in hearing of successful scratch removal from wood.

I've removed a couple of my inserts and tried polishing them with Plastic Polish (Meguiars #17), 1Z PP and even Langka with zero success.

Anyone??

I will try Hi-Temp's Light Cut on my faux wood trim. I'll let you know how it turns out soon. I was told it works great.

carzzz

Ok, I went ahead and tried the Scratch X on my wood trim........first, a before picture, look for the scratch just below the flash, looks like a white line (and by the way, I was wrong, I could feel the scratch with my nail)

IT WORKS!!! The white you see on the trim is sunshine through some trees reflecting on the trim.

I used a very small amount of scratch x, rubbed the scratch with light to moderate pressure, perpendicular to the scratch until the scratch x was almost dry.

I am very happy:bounce

Nice !!!! :xyxthumbs

I'm going to have to get a tube of that, just on general principle. I'll probably never use it, as I don't have any scratches. ;)

Scratch-X can be found quite cheaply. BJ's Wholesale Club was selling a two pack for $4.90 a while back.

pwalk, congrats! Glad it worked for you.

MBZ500E -- you might also want to get hold of some Meguiar's PlastX. I can't comment authoritatively, but it seems to be more aggressive than the Megs and Mothers Plastic Polish, but less so than the ScratchX. I've done a write-up on how it "restored" my hideously-dull '70 Ghia taillights. I was pretty impressed. According to Mike Phillips, it's one of the new line of products with "diminishing microabrasives" so it polishes finer and finer as it breaks down.

Do you know if the scratch x removed the scratch or just filled it?

I'd say that as long as the blemish is gone, it doesn't matter how, since in this case it is a panel in the cabin that is not subjected to frequent washings that would remove fillers.

madazskunk, I do believe the scratch x removed the scratch because after applying the scratch x, I put two coats of Plexus on the trim. I would think the Plexus would remove any filler..
