I dont know how many of you have used this product. It must be one of the best commercialized mainstream scratch removers. I had that on my mind tonite, and saw that someone was selling a tube of it. It really has pulled me out of tough situations when detailing... What are everybody's thoughts?

Yup. Nobody has to ask what I think of the stuff. Its great for all kinds of stuff. The most impressive thing that it ever did for a customer was remove all the rust stains off his white truck. He had one of those diamond plate rails around the bed and tailgate of his truck that had rust dripping out from under it. He was blown away. I'm sure any number of products could have done it, but ScratchX was what I had handy at the time. I've also used it to remove rust from ehaust tips, chrome bumpers and other metal surface. It works great at taking off paint from accidents like running into those concrete pylons in front of stores, paint swaping from other cars and other times when paint rubs off.

I use GS27 and ScratchX. They are pretty much the same thing other than GS27 costs more money. Its definatly not better so I don't understand the price increase. There are a couple pictures in my photo gallery here that have some exaples of what GS27 did for me on one car. Its something that I think everybody should have in their supplies. It has so many purposes. I'd never use either product on an entire car, but they work great on those isolated areas that need to be repaired. :xyxthumbs

From my technical and hand's on experience with Scratch X- should only be used for a very light surface cleaning i.e. very ligh swirl mark's, or very light oxidation removal, I would consider this product a more modern paint cleaner than the tradional Medallion Paint Cleaner which is more solvent based and primarily designed to remove oxidation (older product)...Scratch X represent's Meguiar's newest consumer friendly version of a paint cleaner which work's best with a Porter Cable Polisher, and W-8006 foam polishing pad...I hope this will clear some question's about this product and yes the product should be worked in for a while or else hazing might occur...Gold Class or # 26 should be the follow up's to this product...

I would consider this product on a scale from 1-10 10 being most abrasive..Scratch X- would be a 3

Sincerely,

George Wax..

By the way just in case anyone needed a tube it was on sale at wallmart tonight for $5.99 a tube. This is cheaper than I pay from my distributor.

;) The product would work well with a Dual Action Polisher (PC), just make sure you work the product into the surface until almost dry, and then remove with a microfiber wipe for best result's..On a key note as with any other cleaner, polish,, and wax more is not better on a paint surface all this does is make the product more difficult to remove and work into the surface...Try to work in small section's if you can... I hope this help's..If you still have problem's removing the product just spray some Quik Detailer or Final Inspection # 34 and the product will pick up really easy...

George Wax-a little off topic, but I hope you hang around the forums, given your knowledge of Meguiars products. I've been very pleased with the Body Shop Professional line. :up

:) I will be here on these forum's for awhile...One of my hobby's is detailing been doing since 1992, Whether it's for money, fun, a favor for one my freind, I loving detailing period..That is why when I graduated from college I started working at Meguiar's Inc, based out of Irvine, CA, worked their for about 3 year's, gained some valuable experiece, and I am now an insurance claim's/fraud investigator with the Auto Mobile Club of Southern California(AAA),,..: Body Shop Professional Line otherwise know in the industry as (BSP) line of product's,,was Meguiar's response to 3M line of shp product's (BTW 3M still dominate's this market), By far the BSP line of product's are Meguiar's hand's down best product for today's Modern clear coat paint surface's....Hope to give some unbiased information on Meguiar's surface care product's...

:bounce

Scratch X does work well by hand also just don't use to much of the product.. However, the product's work's best with a PC and W-8006 polishing pad or similiar pad from another company.. Also don't expect to take out some heavy scratches at best the product will only cover them up not remove them..and yes the product is excellent for removing paint transfer..
