Scratch Removal from Helicopter Plexiglass

Hi, I am valeting my friends helicopter on Tuesday and need to machine out some deep scratches left from a engagement ring on the inside of the plexiglass. I'm good at sorting them on cars as I do this for a living but have not attempted it on a helicopter!

Stu, how good of a friend is he/she and how much insurance do you have?



Something called PS201 is what I saw being used on a G5, don't know what the material used for the windows was.

Their a good friend and I will be fully insured through his company, I've got time on my hands so I will be taking things very slowly! I'll probably start off with something very mild and steadily work my way into the rotary polishing stage and see what results I get.

Aren't those windows Lexan (polycarbonate)? If so, which I'd assume they are, they are made out out of the same material that headlight lens are made out of. With that said, there's plenty of info out there on polishing headlights. If you have scratches in the plastic, you'll probably want to start off with some ultra fine sandpaper and then polish it with a rotary and compound.

Good point I'll do some research on that now, I'll post some pics of before and after once it's done.
