Scratch I can't get out..need help

Hey guys,

Well, one day I got home and just noticed this. Someone must have rubbed up on my car or something and put 2 scratches onto the passenger side quarter panel. I tried using a UDM with M205 and M105 and it didn't get any better. My nail doesn't get caught in the scratch so I'm assuming it's only clear coat related. I also Dr. Colorchiped my hood over the weekend and tried that on that scratch. No go. Any other tips or tricks? Do you think it's possible to get it removed?

Thanks,

Mike

that scratch seems too deep for 205, you likely need 105, and maybe a wet sand. You will reduce it some, but I doubt you can remove it completely.

Cheers,

That looks like a pretty nasty scratch. If you used 105 on it and it didn't help any then I'm going to guess that its not coming out. What type of pad did you use and how long did you work the product?

If you've done enough tries with M105/4" orange for the hardness/thickness of the paint (e.g., four for a Mazda, ten for a hard/thick-clear German car), then you might oughta just clear up that hazing and live with it.

Hey guys, I probably tried M105 on an orange pad for about 3-4 minutes. I also have some SSR 3.0 if you think I should try that. I might have did M105 for 3-4 minutes then just M205 for 3-4 minutes. I didn't really go at it a bunch of times because I don't have a paint gauge..

M105/orange has a pretty short work time, but still, IMO 3-4 minutes isn't very long to spend trying to get out a nasty scratch via PC (not long at all if you're using pads larger than 4"), especially if it's hard clear.

The M205 step oughta go pretty quickly as all it should do is remove the micromarring/etc. from the M105.

But it really might be too deep for safe, complete removal. I'm glad to hear you're being cautious about this :xyxthumbs
