Schwarz 330 BMW Sedan Hood Repaint/Body Shop Carnage vs Me!

Broceratops

My friend was at a stoplight when the girl in front of him waiting to turn left decided she had better get out of the intersection since the light turned red and she had missed her chance to turn. So...she shifts into reverse...and never looks back. Literally. So my friend ends up getting $1100 from her insurance agency for repairs. Against my advice, he found a "guy" downtown who does OK work for decent prices. In the end he got new headlights, grill inserts and hood. The hood was painted and only the good Lord knows what happened after.

So my friend calls me, says "hey I dont think this looks very good"
I told him to stop by so I could assess the damage.
This is what I see. The pictures dont do it justice.

I started testing with a LC Orange flat pad with CG v36 on a GG6 with a 5" backing plate. I found the results to be decent and consistent so I carefully proceeded.

The pad/polish combo killed the holograms, but lots of swirls and micro marring were still present. So I continued on with LC White flat pads and CG v36, then following with LC White flat pads and v38. After an IPA wipedown I used CG BlackLight followed by CG Jetseal. Both machine applied with a Black LC flat pad.

Overall I was pleased with the results. I really didnt thing I would be able to achieve that level of correction without wetsanding. But with his budget I had to do what I could, and it turned out better than either of us expected.
