Saw a Mercedes SLR today!

So I was in the parking lot about to change out a customer's battery when I hear someone coming to a stop with really squeaky crackly brakes. I looked up and saw in the shopping center across the street a silver mercedes about to pull onto the main street to drive off, but it just looked like one of the newer MB coupes, until I noticed the exhaust pipes coming out after the front wheels!

It drove off and out of my life :( But it was a sight to see!

I've heard it has carbon rotors, so would that be reason for them to squeak? I know those racing type rotors tend to work better once they're heated up.

I saw an SLR this spring back in May or June. It was at a car show so the owner was happy to let me inspect it up close. I was talking to him for a couple of minutes and he mentioned he also has a M-B SL55 AMG. He said the SLR makes his SL55 look like a VW Jetta.

They have one at the local dealership...pretty nice car! Im not sure if carbon breaks squeak... they might tho...

When I was looking at new cars a few months back i stopped by the local mercedes dealer to see if they had any decently priced benz's. I went into the showroom and they had one there. Sadly, it was not taken care of at all. The whole car was covered in a fine layer of dust and the tires were flatspotted from not being used in months. The paint also had some swirling. I suppose before they put it in the showroom they gave it a swirl creator, I mean a wash. Still sexy though, I wouldn't complain having it :D

Where was mine?! You forgot to pick it up from the dealership? :D

Well I was going to give that one to you, but right when those brakes starting squealing I knew you would see me. It wouldn't have been a surprise so I just kept on driving. I guess I'll just have to leave it in the garage tonight next to the other SLR.

:argue C'mon now, no need to pick on SL55/65's.. I happen to love mine, and personally don't like the interior styling of the SLR, not to mention the SLR costs more than my condo, my SL didn't.

One of the guys who works for the topless bar owner told me he heard the big guy was getting a McLaren-my guess is if it is true it is the SLR and not the original.

Regardless, I'll burn through a roll of film to get it on my main page the day I do it if he really gets one. :)

Those were not my words. They were a quote from the owner of the SLR who also owns an SL55 AMG.

I was just messing with you anyways, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I've had some people tell me my SL was just plain ugly, and then I proceeded to shoot them in the face! :LOLOL Haha, well maybe I didn't shoot him, I just laughed and said, "I don't think the you have room to talk seeing as how you drive a Cavalier with lambo doors, and claim you spent $40k in modifications. Anyone who would waste that kind of money on a Cavalier, or even lie about wasting that kind of money on a Cavalier needs to be put out of their misery."

Instead of modifying a car that is now worth $6k or less I can think of a long line of cars in the $40k or even $30k range that I would much rather invest my money in.

A litlle off topic but here we go :

The Nurburgring is the most dangerous track in the world.

Several car brands test their cars there to optimize suspension, drivetrain, brakes...

1 km of driving on the Rin (at speed of course) equals 20 km of normal road use.

Here is some info :

http://www.nurburgring.de/

http://www.jwhubbers.nl/ring/misc/print.php

I go there now for about 10 years, learned to really drive a car there.

Rain, Sun, snow, ... nothing will scare me now, I had it all...

This is a link to a site with some video material :

http://www.8200rpm.com/index.php?p=1&t=3&lang=en

It's in English so "right click-save as" please...

During all those years, I've met several people and made some intresting friends.

Car testers of al brands, BMW, Ruf, Hartge, Schnitzer, Prodrive, also met several famous race drivers, ..

I've seen the most breathtaking cars there : Pagani Zonda, Lambo's, Carerra GT's,...

Look it like this, if you come there with a normal 911, nobody will see you.

The great thing is that you really can trash around, but you really have to learn the track.

I've seen several people going off, quite heavy, just because they thing that, once they played GT4, they now the Ring. NOT !!!

BTW, I saw an SLR almost 3 years ago, when it was still in it's test program. Such test cars are just parked on the parking lot or somewhere in the nearby town, nobody cares, because it's a common sight...

If you have the luck to come over, don"t hesitate to contact me for a ride !

A few pics, the last two are of myself !
