Before

The heavy brake dust buildup had left these wheels looking dark and dull

Plenty of dirt and water spots

10624945_442380565900068_1988164564075542405_n.jpg

There were bugs splattered everywhere. Unfortunately much of the damage was too severe to remove.
10428032_442380485900076_7631605340899859564_n.jpg

The engine needed a good cleaning

Black Sapphire Metallic... I know from previous experience that this is some rock hard paint.
10570404_442380595900065_8978772901899695604_n.jpg

The interior still had a fair amount of salt buildup from the past winter

The leather was looking quite dirty and was ready for a thorough cleaning
10410913_442381142566677_4511408284180270089_n.jpg

Nice sticky residue left over on the center console and cup holders

During

Again, the wheels were covered in a thick layer of brake dust and dirt. This is quite common with german vehicles.
10384200_442380612566730_8654041436642122308_n.jpg

I was able to remove a fair amount with a pressure rinse... notice the small section on the left that has not been rinsed.
10635715_442380622566729_7662052324758038748_n.jpg

Even though a large amount of dirt was removed, there was still plenty left on the surface. Sonax Full Effect wheel cleaner was used to help break down the remaining dirt on the wheels.
10606259_442380712566720_8293493956243601372_n.jpg

There was an incredible amount of grime coming from these barrels of the wheels.
10614401_442380715900053_6365500060437347370_n.jpg

They are truly a different color after cleaning
10628487_442380822566709_6519773896073912199_n.jpg

The wheels were sealed with HydrO2 to provide a water resistant barrier that will help to make them easier to clean
10639645_442380879233370_4346704296279666536_n.jpg

Next, the vehicle was thoroughly rinsed, foamed, and hand washed. The paint was then properly decontaminated to remove tar, iron deposits, and other bonded contamination.

Once the paint was clean, the defects were easily visible. The vehicle was covered in a fair amount of scratches and swirls and there were also plenty of rotary holograms present from the dealership detailers.

After compounding, most of the defects were removed from this panel.

Again, a nice improvement after compounding... but still some remaining RIDS.

Fender before correction. Notice the hazy appearance from the poor 'buffing' done by the previous dealership detailer

After compounding the surface was much more brilliant. This would be further refined with the finishing polish later.

The lights were also in need of correction. Notice the hazy appearance from the swirls.

Crystal clear after compounding

After the 2 step correction, the paint was incredibly glossy

10653750_442381475899977_6107938571765748575_n.jpg

2 thick coats of CQuartz Finest was then applied to all painted areas to provide durable layer of protection and increase gloss even further.
10410987_442381525899972_3223379377114181248_n.jpg

The leather was thoroughly cleaned using steam, all purpose cleaner, and soft brushes. Notice the difference on the seat between the left and right side.
10570532_442381195900005_8198580901611393950_n.jpg

All carpet was vacuumed and steam cleaned.
10538494_442381229233335_3021686251675232904_n.jpg

Interior cleaned up nicely
10639519_442381232566668_2776533479712952915_n.jpg

Exhaust tips were dull and in need of restoration.

They polished up nicely, but there were some areas that had pitted and were not repairable.

After

The paint was now a deep, rich black with a mirror-like shine.

Nailed it (as usual)! Out of curiousity, do you put the Hydro2 on the wheels after the foam bath (so whatever you foam/decon with doesn't strip it)? I know pics don't always get posted in order of succession, so just checking. Or maybe the Hydro2 stands up to the foam soap of choice?

Thanks for the write-up...always informative and inspiring! :bigups

Fantastic results. From start to finish how long did that transformation take?

You do amazing work. I love the write ups and pictures. Inspiring for someone getting into detailing!
