I read that goof-off works, but I am not sure. I guess anything that is strong enough to remove sap will take the wax with it.

Your cheapest bet is rubbing alcohol. Just wax after you clean up the sap.

I use Hi Def Total Clean to remove sap, bugs, tar and road grime. I use it to spot clean grills and lower rocker panels or all over the vehicle as a prep-wash.

ONR works well if its not been on too long. Steam does a great job as well, as does clay.
