Sank my GoPro HD (video footage included...)

My wife got me a GoPro HD for Christmas. So what is the first thing we do with it? Strap it to a remote controlled boat and cane it around the lake going 50mph. After accidentally hitting a few ducks across the lake (this was about 150-200 yards from where we were standing), I think the camera got knocked loose. You can see it falling off the boat after about a minute, and it sinking to the bottom of the lake.

Enjoy the footage!

Dude! That was awesome! :)

...are you sure you didn't aim for the ducks though? :D

Glad you got the camera back....is it still working?

That is incredidle that you got it back!! Love the boat. I used to have a Aeromarine 50" Catamaran with an OPS .90. Did about 65mph and was stable as anything. Buddy had a boat similar to your friends and bounced all over the place (submarined a few times), but could hit 75 or so on flat water. THey are a heck of a lot of funn except when the motor stalls in the middle of the lake. Had to use a fishing rod with a tennis ball attached to the end. Would cast it out past the boat and have it hook on screws in the bow or the props :)

Tried to attach pics and a movie using the tool on here, but no go. They were even well within the size limit. Oh well.

I agree with everyone else, that was AWESOME. Glad you got the camera back. How long after it sank did it record before running out of memory or battery?

I have an 8GB card in the GoPro, so it can record at 720p 60fps for about 88 minutes. The battery lasts about 2.5 hours, but after a while it was dark outside so you see it becomes darker and darker at the bottom of the lake as well until it's just all black...

Mounted it on RC cars recently, very cool stuff...

A lot of guys I race with have GoPros on their bikes and a few have fallen off. Ill try to dig up the video of one falling off in T2 at IR at over 150mph.

Edit: Heres one! His fell off in turn 4. Same corner I wrecked my thumb in last September.
