Anybody using these for anything? Been thinking about a 30 pack for Gary Dean style ONR washes. Could they still scratch if they only touch the paint when they are clean and wet?

It just amazes me that places get $4-10/towel when same has them for $.40. I think I'll get some better towels for polish and wax removal

I use the new Sam's Member's Mark Towels with the GDM for ONRWW with no issues. I think these are the towels you are talking about.

As others have chimed in,  I also find zero problems with the Sams Club Members Mark

Microfiber towels.  These have not scratched paint (that I have seen), they hold up well

and they are a great price point.

I believe that they are also called "ProForce" towels (but I could be mistaken).

For 14 dollars, it is hard to find a better deal.  I stay with cheap MF towels, just because I like

to have the cleanest and best quality towels for my details.  When I have a picky client with an

expensive vehicle, I always quote them the cost for purchasing brand new towels, clay, and

carpet/upholstery brushes.  I have a client that doesnt want any chemicals used in his car,

only water.  He has no problem spending a little extra to have only pristine surfaces touching

his vehicle.  As a bonus, I have some new (gently used) equipment after the detail.

Another reason that I like cheap MF, is that you never know when you will drop one

on the ground (effectively ruining the towel).

I have used them, and have not really had any issues with them. The edges can mar and scratch a bit, which is why I am partial to the edgeless towels, but if you fold them right, you can use them without the edges ever touching the surface, thus leading to no problems. The only thing I don't like is the tags being sewn in. You have to rip them off. I like to just be able to pull the sticky label off the towel like the cobra white edgeless, etc.

Here recently, they increased the amount of MF per pack. When they did I noticed that the new ones are not as soft as the old ones. I still have no issues with them scratching paint though, just thought I would mention that they seemed to change the towel a bit.

Honestly, I'd rather not cheap out on what touches the paint. I find the less expensive towels like the Sam's Club MFs are great for glass, wheels and interiors. But for paint, if its less than 300 or so gram weight, I don't use them. I like a good, thick, dense nap.

Like 20ducks said, I don't use cheap microfiber for glass. They lint like crazy. I only use top quality towels for all paint interaction. Towels like the Costco/Sam's Club, I use those strictly for wheels and dirty jobs. They usually get thrown away after one or two uses and washed/stored separately.

$14 for 30 towels is a great deal!

I get some 350 gram towels from Eurow on Amazon that work good, but I try to use higher grade towels for paint. The lower grade towels might be fine , but I find they trap more crap in their fibers than most higher grade towels and I find it after washing/drying as I fold them (although not always the case).
