Saab Paint quality?

How is the quality of Saab paint? I'm thinking about a 9.2x and am just wondering how the paint is on those cars. I want to wait until spring, but the price has been very nice on the 9.2x's for a while now (even before employee program) and I think it might be a car worth checking out.

The 9-2x is basically a WRX wagon, so it's made by Subaru. Therefore, it's probably going to have the worst paint imaginable, ie. real thin, soft, and very chip prone. That is, of course, unless Subaru builds it and Saab paints it, but I don't know how likely that is. Other than that, the "Saabaru" is awesome.

They're GM now and GM has one of the harder clears I've worked on.

Liz's '99 Saab 9-3 has pretty decent paint on it. Excellent depth, the clear hardness is about average.

^ Yes, Saab is now a GM subsidiary, but the 9-2x is made 100% by Subaru. I'd imagine the paint is done by them as well, but hopefully to GM specs, which are MUCH better than Subaru's. You asked a good question Scott. Hmm.

Now all I need is the good answer. It's funny to think some people actually ask about silly things like reliability and comfort when I ask about the important stuff...paint quality. :)

My next vehicle choice will come down to paint quality. If Audi made a vehicle fast enough for the right price, it would be first on my list :).

That's what custom paint is for, strip that car down to bare metal and spray on whatever you want.
