s55's amg long awaited detail.

There is no cure!
well this is it. first time i was able to lay my hands on it.

this is my fathers car, an s55 amg. he got it about 6 months ago. since then he has not waxed it. only thing that has maintained it was the animal of a washer that works at our parking lot at work and pressure washes every vehicle in 15 minutes. needless to say, the silver looked quite boring and after 3 months lost its luster. since then ive been bugging him to leave it with me for a day. until now is the first free day he had, so lets begin.

megs gold class wash
mothers clay
optimum/polishing pad/1200rpms
upp spray wax
upp spray wax on rims
megs undirance high gloss on tires. (he asked for the shiniest thing i had)

ive really been feeling more and more comfortable with the rotory now with my recent pad choices and feel that as long as i keep moving it at a steady but more than slow pace, nothing will happen.

side note. i got to unleash it a bit before i washed it. the car has tons of torque and in no time was begging for a ticket. so i quickly slowed down while my dad was egging me on to go faster. all this on us-1( south dixie highway) for all u south florida residents. a quick summary from my test drive is that although the car has tons of power and torque, along with awesome brakes, the car couldnt take the tirns as well as my car. my moms 7 series took turns a lot better than this car. dad has the same complaints as well...

enjoy, i know i frigging did.

I really think you did a good job on that. I love that car!! I have been tossing around the idea of buying a S500....
anyways, GREAT JOB ON THE S55!!!!

thanks.

and before anyone says anything. the chrome tailpipes are indeed dirty. i could not get them clean. i tried flitz metal polish, mother, and eagle one metal polish. nothing. clay took out the majority, but some of it would not budge.

I know that shiny pipes are nice but the important part of the detail is the paint, IMHO. Looks like the paint is in good condition. your philosophy of the rotary I am in total accord with.

Am also intersted in the UPPS. Did you spray on paint surface then wipe off?

Have used High Endurance. Still have a bottle of it at least half full. In Texas, unless totally cured it, attracks dust very badly. Will it be dry before your father drives it next?

yep. just sprayed, spread like u would a qd, and flipped the towel. ive had that same problem with endurance, but like i said, he requested something very glossy.

i really do with i was able to clean those pipes.

no... i asked that same question to him and he said it didnt. not sure if the model year has anything to do with it tho.

its a 2005

very nice job. And awesome car yes. Glad to hear you're doing well with the rotary and pad choices.

There's a saying in Germany that if you want to " drive " a car then get a BMW. If you want a car to " drive " you , get a Benz.

just curious about what pads you chose to go with? ive been wanting to try some new pads with my rotary ( im currently using megs) for some odd reason i just dont feel comfortable with them.

Great job!! That's what a 6 month old Mercedes should look like!! My dad has always let the guy at his office parking lot wash his car too. This guy worked by hand but didn't change his wash water ever. Also, I can't believe you were bombing this car down route 1. When I was a student at UM there were two things I noticed about S. Dixie Hwy. First, tons of traffic all the time and second that there was an accident every 1/4 mile. Plus, I would hit a red light every 100 ft. So, I don't know how you found enough room to build up any speed.
