S2000 Wash Video

I set up the camera and took some video a week or two ago and thought I'd share it here. Basically it shows use of the foam gun, water beading/sheeting during the rinse stage and rinsing followed by "drying with the hose" to demonstrate some of these concepts in a way that words just don't do justice.

Enjoy! :)

Very cool! I always like to see something be done, rather than reading about it! What was the last LSP you put on the car?

Thanks for posting the video. IMHO, I thought the rinsing part (after wash) was a bit harsh for me.

You skipped the part where you washed (with a mitt) right?

We differ on the final rinse approach (I remove all attachments on the hose) but we achieve the same result (sheeting) because of the LSP :D

Wow! I haven't seen a car washed on concrete in ages. We live in a country of constant water restrictions. I at least washed my car on the grass, so I was washing and watering grass at same time.

Cool vid never the less

Buddha: I've been "layering" a coat a week of bare hand applied Zymol Concours for the past six weeks. Today I'm scheduled for the sixth.

Merci: yeah, I didn't bother recording the "wash" part since there's nothing too interesting about running a sheepskin mitt over the surface of the car :D I think the rinse probably was a little harsh, but I guess I was trying to get all the soap off as quickly as possible. The spraygun part of the Gilmour foam gun generates a pretty stiff stream with my water pressure.

I prefer the "wide" setting on the fireman's nozzle to a no-attachment hose because I feel it gives me better control, less chance of scratching the paint if the nozzle contacts the car, better sheeting action in general and the ability to control the flow from the hoze end (with the Gilmour shutoff valve).

tegboy: thanks! if I had some way to reclaim and filter the water, I definitely would. I might look into some sort of "redirector" to at least flow the water onto the lawn at the bottom of the driveway.

sean: we've got relatively hard water, actually. it's pretty clean but definitely up there on the hardness scale. I've never had water bead like it does with this Zymol - it's really amazing.

I am waiting evvver so patiently. I suppose I'll have to suffice with the vid! I really want to hear what you thought of it. You should be good and ready by now!

Edit: Seems like its sheets and holds up...not bad for a boutique lsp that supposed to only last a week.....

I won't spill the beans, but remember to take the long range shots if you can, and compare it to what you were using the last time. I want to hear what you think of it.

the final "drying" step works even better if you don't use any kind of nozzle at all. With out a nozzle you get more water to pour over your car and greater sheeting action.:bigups
