S100 over Nu-Finish

Um, Just a curious question because another Car forum I'm a member to, I've read quite a few posts praising it (NuFinish)..... Now, I have used it before but wasn't impressed, but that was a while ago..... Anyone ever try this combo? The also showed a Guru report showing NU Finish ranking higher than Meg. GC..... Anyone care to elaborate on your opinion of NuFinish.....
 
I use it on the beaters and on wheels... just because I'm trying to use it up. It smells terrible (kerosene - the sign of cheapness) and the liquid version I have doesn't seem to have great durability. A lot of "once a year" waxes like this and TW usually don't come close. The paste version may last longer (this seems to be true of many products and is what Consumer Reports found too with this stuff.) It goes on easy when you use a wet applicator (as per directions) and buffs off fairly easily, but that's about it. Has some problem with staining trim sometimes. Did I mention it smells bad? :p



Despite DETAILKING's testing and opinion, I haven't found it to have very much polishing/cleaning/abrading strength. Do a search for this stuff and you'll find lots of other info.
 
This is why I HATE IT when people quote our test out of context.



Yes, technically, NuFinish did finish higher than Gold Class (by 0.01 points). But, the only reason that NuFinish did "better" was because one portion of the grade, Removal (which accounted for 10% of the overall grade), fared in NuFinish's favor.



NuFinish earned a B+ for removal while Gold Class earned a D. Gold Class (paste) virtually welds itself to the paint and leaves a ton of residue when you buff it off. Had they both scored D's for removal, Gold Class would have trounced NuFinish.



Gold Class averaged a B- over 8 weeks performance (and a "high B-" at that). NuFinish averaged a C (and a very "low C") in performance...



Had my pen not been "bound" by my publisher, I would have really said what I wanted to say about NuFinish....and a few other products....Zy-something-another, Liq-something-another, For-something-another, etc. You get the drift.

Yeah, it can be frustrating when you go to a great length to express something and you don't end up saying whta you wanted to.

LOL Steve! Seems that "For-something-another" doesn't have a lot of allies. :D





Since those guys were citing the WaxTest I'm surprised they weren't suggesting or trying Armor-All or Raindance, which ARE good waxes overall (according to the test). :confused:
 
I feel it is best suited for use as a one step for older cars that need a little sprucing up. Note it will NOT layer, but added coats will give you more "cleaning effect" on an older neglected surface........



I use it on wheels every once in a while, and sometimes on fiberglass boats.



I rate it as:



Shine: Average

Durability: Slightly above average (seems to last on fiberglass much longer than on cars)

Use: Below Average - If you use too much it really makes a mess. It stains black trim, and produces a lot of powder upon removal.
 
Just out of curiosity, why would you use NuFinish and S100? Why not just spend the NuFinish money on a light cleaner/glaze and then top that with S100? I'm sure it would work and look better. :nixweiss
