s100 hazing

After reading a post about how souveran wax looks better if it is allowed to haze, I tried to do it with S100 on my car.... I applied the wax to the whole car, starting from the trunk and start buffing the residue after I went through the whole car (except the roof, I decided to do the roof separately)....

It takes a little bit more effort to remove the residue, but it is not hard at all....

I put 3 coats of s100 with approx. 24 hours in between (starting sunday afternoon).....the car was garaged all the time and never driven until today....I cleaned with Poorboys' Spray and Wipe before waxing. I just took the car out today and I can't believe the shine/wet look.... I had never seen my car shine like that!!

I don't know if the *new* look is from the layering or leaving the s100 to haze, but I'm just so happy with the results!!!! Usually I put 1-2 coats every other week and never allow the wax to haze....

sorry no pics yet (don't have a digicam)

All these threads talking about letting waxes like these haze over are pretty interesting. :) I may have to try it some time, although I'm not confident that I'd be able to notice any differences.

Did you have S100 on this car already and how long ago did you start applying? I think some people have said that S100 (and some other waxes I can't recall right now) improve in appearance in a few days to a week as if it "cured" or something. Sorry if this only confuses the "why/how" question more. :D

I think part of it might be psychological.. "I put more work into it, therefore it must look better than when I did it faster and didn't break a sweat." The same goes with when one invests in specialized multistep or costly systems. A higher degree of commitment might make you feel the need to see an improvement.

We all know what needs to be done to see whether there really is an improved shine: side by side testing!!

I tried out the s100 hazing thing a while back on my car....no difference really. It does look better the next day after curing, like 4dsc said. There's some discussion as to whether or not carnauba can be successfully layered. I have no idea.

Anyways, applying s100 and buffing it off soon after provides the best results for me.

reminds me of people who leave Turtle Wax on their cars overnight thinking it will somehow sink in more, or form a harder candy like shell over their finish :)
Hmm...

Anyone remember this? :D

Raugusta, good work!! :up :up

Don't let these other posters get you down. I do the same thing on my car too when using P21S. I see an improvement as well, and regardless of whether or not it's psychological doesn't really matter. The fact that it looks better to YOU and you're getting more reward out of it is what's important!
