rust on wheels

im detailing a 2001 jeep cherokee tomorrow and i got a peak at it today. Paints in good condition but there is a lot of rust on the wheels. I use some mothers wheel cleaner stuff and i just dont think it will get any of the rust out... any suggestions? or am i going to have to explain to him that its just not going anywhere.

You're gonna have to sand and repaint to get it all out, unfortuneatly. You might be able to reduce it a bit if you use #00 steel wool and metal polish, just keep the wool and polish off the painted parts.

Ardex has a product called 6230 ATTACK ACID...If that don't clean it, nothing will! If you use it don't use it on hot rims, not on dry rims (wet them down), don't let it dry, and use rubber gloves and eye protection!

I would suggest using #000 steel wool and a lubricant. First test a small area on the wheel.
