rust on door trim

so i just got another car and there's a few rust spots on it. all the rock chips on the roof have been sanded and cleaned of rust and are awaiting touch-up paint and wetsanding.



Another spot near the rear wheel well is going to a professional, just like 2" of rust along the fender.



Last spot is along the door trim. There's only 3 on the driver's side rear door, but I'd like to know how to fix these?



Any ideas? Maybe just leave it to a pro? I'm not an amateur with detailing, but I'm not a professional. I have most tools that are required to sand and touch-up.

IMO you're not gonna DIY that, it's just too bad. Once you get real *blisters* you're gonna have deep pitting anyhow, and that's also just too big to do without at least an airbrush. The pro shouldn't charge much of anything to do that when he's doing the fender anyhow.



I'm all for quickie DIY jobs when the results will turn out OK, but I really don't think that's one you oughta try. You could try the one on the left-hand piece (in the pic), using sharply folded sandpaper and rust converter. If *it* doesn't turn out swell then there's no way the piece on the right will, but if it *does* turn out super then you might want to ignore me and go for it after all.

The only way to properly fix that is to pop the trim off. (they just clip on there) sand it all down make sure the rust is completly removed seal it with an antirusting agent use body filler to get it back to a smooth surface then re-prime and re-paint it. It's not overly complicated at all but if it's outside your skill level the I would have a professional body shop take care of it for you.
