Rupes pad recommendations

Thinking Santa may leave the 21mm in my stocking. From what I've read, the long throw really chews up foam pads. Wondering if this is true for say Megs MF pads. Also, does anyone have any experience with the new Lake Country orbital pads?
 
I'd stick with rupes, if they are another manufacturer make sure the have a center hole. The heat will deform them if they don't.
 
Had two Megs MF Pads delaminate on my first detail with the Rupes. You have to watch the heat. I now use compressed air to clean out the pads and it helps.

I do have experience with the new Lake Country HD orbital pads. They work very well and are more pliable than the Rupes pad.

I had the Rupes Green pad shred but that was after multiple uses and I am still a fan of the Rupes Yellow pads.

Great video!! I really enjoyed it. It was right to the point, just how I prefer my video reviews. My experience with the LC HD Orbital pads have been great. Although the Blue Coarse RUPES pad is a monster at removing defects on hard clearcoats and finishes amazingly well. I don't think anyone has a comparable pad to the RUPES Blue Coarse pad.

Rupes Yellow works well, like jsou said, the green one doesn't hold up. I haven't had any issues with the Meguiars or Optimum microfiber pads and I've been using a Rupes about 18 months now. The new Meguiars foam pads for DA polishers were apparently developed specifically with the Rupes in mind. Going to pick some up from my Meguiars distributor this week if they've got them in stock. Optimum's foam pads also hold up well.
 
I have both the Rupes and LC HD pads. LC has done their homework and it shows. Todd did have a new Gray Rupes pad at SEMA and it looks promising. Add to the mix the new thinner pads from Meguiar's and we have plenty of options to choose from.

I agree, the greens wear a little too fast for my liking.

I'm definitely going to try some lc pads for the rupes as well as flash pads. I've heard a lot of good things about both.
 
I used Rupes green foam pad and Rupes MF pad for paint correction. On flat surface, I use the MF pads. On the non-flat surface I use the green foam pad. Having said that, I find the green pad difficult to work with. It would not make 100% contact on the surface unless I soften the foam with a bit of water. Too much water would lead to over heating and pad failure.

I haven't tried the new LC orbital pads yet but I have seen some great reviews.
 
I am really uncomfortable with non-rupes MF pads on my 21, but the LC HD pads are awesome. Just used the orange and red this weekend and they really run great in the machine. I personally think the Rupes MF pads don't finish out as well when using non-Rupes product, so keep that in mind as well. The Megs MF pads really don't have a lot of grip on the backing plate, so I have not used them again on my lhr-21.
 
Ordered some of the blue Rupes cutting pads and some of the new Meguiars pads as well, let y'all know how they work out for me.
 
I'm guessing it's my technique, but I always seem to get 'scuffing' with heavy cut foam pads. I've been using mostly Megs MF on my Griot's or 3401 and while it may haze the paint, I find with a blue B&S pad (I've pretty much settled on B&S for foam) it finishes down pretty darn well. I've been told when using something like M105/101/100 to step down to D300 before polishing and am going to give that a try next time around.

So, spending to much time on the web, I'm reading Rupes green has issues and I can see how the LC HD Orbital bevel could disintegrate as well. I may purchase just one each of the compounding foam pads, but I was hoping to stay with MF for cutting. And unless there's a reason, I'll stay with B&S for final polishing. But still scratching my head :thinking :thinking
